MIK 2025 is only 6 weeks away!

Just a gentle reminder… 2025 MIK Build Challenge is just 6 weeks away.

There is still plenty of time to start to hoard and collect all the free stuff you think that you might need before the January 1st deadline.

A reminder of the changes to the general rules we made last year.
The Maximum $ has been raised to $35.00 to cover inflation. And the 30 days rule still applies.

ALSO>>> Any and all Trucks, Wheels, Bolsters and Couplers DO NOT Count against the $35.00 spending limit.

Stay tuned…

Dave T.

Great Googly Moogly!

I did not realize you had so much hair!

Wow only 6 weeks away !!

Did we just get a hint as to the theme with the mention of trucks, wheels, bolsters and couplers? It sounds like we won’t be constructing a building this year…

Well Joe, in all honesty, that was a much younger me. Since then, my hair has migrated to the back of my head.

[edit: in this reply, it says I indeed replied to Joe. But in my last two replies on other threads, no replying to the prior poster is indicated. Not an life-or-death issue though… :innocent:]

Todd,
He says that every year! And knowing Dave it will be a rabbit out of his hat trick once again. Or a project Dave wants to get rid of and mails us all doors again :joy:

I look forward to it.
It’ll be a change from writing.

About nine months ago, I participated in my first MIK challenge, where we were challenged to come up with track side businesses in large scale. Some of finished early, some on time, some months later and some got caught up in life’s activities and posted their DNFs.

At the end of the build and February being the middle of summer, I goofed around with Canva instead of going outside to play in the middle of the day. I borrowed the glamour shots to make LargeScale Centralian Advertising to test out Canva. Dave’s post just reminded me that I kept them.

Clearly, I didn’t land the ad agency job, but thought some might like a reminder of January’s endeavours. Here are some of the glamour shots.

I couldn’t help but wonder how your Mik has evolved.

  • Did it survive?
  • Did it get completed?
  • Where is it now?

Holy cow Bill, those are amazing!!

I just looked up Canva, are you using the free version? And how long have you been doing so?

Cliff, yes it’s the free version.
I played around with it on the iPad in February & March. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Staple gun, telephone poles, ShedOps posters?

Wow Bill, those advertisements are terrific. I really like the one for my build, “the cranberry institute” and the “It’s Time to Juice!” conference. It’s all very Clever and so Funny.

My build is alive and well after finding a spot on the RR and I think this video will answer your questions.

I couldn’t help but wonder how your Mik has evolved.

Thanks for the video Todd. I have not run a train on my layout in 4 years, so I take great pleasure in watching trains run on others layouts.

Thanks Lou. I’m glad you liked it. There are plenty more on my channel when you got some time to blow.

I can’t help myself
Dave Taylor

OK Mr. Rooster… And just why did you pull that up…?

Just when I thought that I could stay Unidentified if I showed up someplace…

The guys in the black suits, with the blinky thingie, might make me change my name and move again…

Nudge nudge wink wink say no more… :upside_down_face:

Not to worry, I have the disguise and new ID already planned out. Just go to the corner pizza shop ask a guy named Vinny for a slice of Sicilian and pay with a Sacagawea dollar. He will take you to the back room and you can move from there. However if he hands you a Susan B Anthony dollar and says here’s your change sir …run as it’s a set up !

Wait… Rooster, are you saying that Dave Taylor is actually Joe Zullo??

Or vice versa?? Holy crap…

I’m always the last to know these things…

Vic, An unidentified individual of authority has appeared just outside of Someplace (USA)

Now back to Rooster in the studio….
