Dont know whats worse, the accident, or the hatefilled angry hate mongerers hating everything and posting their hatred about it in the coments section of the article. Seriosly, sometimes I read the comments sections and think maybe ebola isnt such a bad thing and maybe we should give the raccoons a chance to do something better. Shrugs.

That looks to be the same intersection where the Amtral took out a semi truck trailer a few years ago, its a BAD intersection. Train/vehicle collisions are not uncommon there.
I was on Amtrak, at that intersection, a little more than a month ago. Spooky.

I see what you mean about the comments.
My two older sons are both Metrolink engineers in southern California. They are always telling me how vehicles and pedestrians disregard the crossing signals. Both have been involved in crossing incidents – it is a lot more common than you might think. It usually doesn’t make the news unless the train derails or someone dies. One of the sons texted me right after the crash letting me know that he and his brother were not on this one.
