Wow…water/mother nature is an amazing tool
Just think what it did to the rail line did the same to our local roads and highways. Bridges and road sections completly gone.
Heres a video of damage in my area. Towards the end are some good pictures

I’ve spent many hours on Youtube watching the Irene “damage” videos.
Really amazing. It will be a long time before things are “normal” again.

I was in Albany and Troy during Irene (daughter had her first baby) and seeing the Hudson so high was amazing. Troy’s newest landmark, the Dinosaur Grill on the Hudson, had a rather large boat sitting on its patio. Parts of Troy and Green Island were flooded and Albany had trees and power lines down… The Thruway was closed west of Schenectady and it took my wife and me two tries (on two days) to get back to Rochester. Upstate NY really got clobbered.

Wow! What a mess. When he said they had a jacuzzi next to the tracks I thought he was speaking metaphorically. Then he shows us the actual jacuzzi!
Shawn,
Amazing video. The Explorer Post I was in as a kid used to do the white water on the Delaware River from Callicoon to Port Jurvis each spring. Shooting Shinner’s Falls was always the highlight. We would almost always see flood damage along the way, but NEVER as serious as this. Too bad the Army Corps of Engineers shot our all the rock that made up the falls to free the river up for the spring thaws, it really hurt the outfitters there.
On another note, I have a cousin who is a Civil PE for Ocean County and he tells me they were not spared the flood damage either. Several bad road and bridge washouts. He figures it will be months before everything gets back close to some semblance of normal.
Good luck getting your place up to snuff again.
