Meet Kassy

For those of you that have visited the Kaskaskia Valley Railway and for those that can remember the early days of us attending the ECLSTS in York, we lost Millie. We kind of feel cheated because we only had her for 9 years. She ended up with Cushing Disease and on 1/2/10 it had gotten to be to hard for her. Our mourning period may seem short, trust me there is still a wounded spot in our hearts, but we are trying to move on. Meet Kassy, the newest member of the crew on the KVRwy.

Border Collie/Lab mix supposedly. Another pound rescue dog, 4 1/2 months old. Father in Law’s old dog Heidi and Shadow the cat are not amused.

Cute pup. She should liven up the place for a while.

Ric, very sorry to hear about Millie. My condolences. That’s a tough decision to make.

Maybe this one will like me…

I hate when that happens!
Oh the joy’s of a puppy in the winter!
Teaching then to go outside in the snow!
Why can’t I just do it inside where It’s warm!
Still you got to love them!
Two years come quick!
Great photo!
Are you going to teach her to pose with trains?

Are you kidding? Ric is going to teach Kasey to run the trains!

Sorry to hear about Millie. I know how it feels.

The puppy looks cute - hope she likes trains!

She looks more like a boat dog to me . Ric will have her tying boats up in no time .
Se’ll spend her vacations railroading . So , lucky dog , pretty too . But not a patch on the old one ,Ric ?

Ah yes.
Man’s best friend. Always happy to see you, no matter how bad their day was
Ralph

Ric,

If Kassy lives up to her parentage then she’ll be herding the straying operating crews in no time, just have to repress her lab traits a bit, those guys will always go for the cookie instead of doing the job.

There will never be a Lab in this house, SWMBO has sworn to that  ;), too many in the park on our walks and they all behave like “land sharks” (That’s what one owner calls her own Lab!).

A real cutey there Ric. Hienz 57 bred dogs are often the very best, playfull and loyal.

Whew! A border collie/lab will definitely keep us on schedule.

We’ll miss Millie.

Yup. Mixed breeds are best.

Sorry about Millie, Ric. I know how hard it is to loose a friend. I’ve lost three dogs in the last 4 years.

I now have a two dog wrecking crew to keep me busy.

Ric and Jan sorry about Millie. The new puppy is very cute. Look forward to meeting her in person. looks like Andy will have a new yard dog to help keep everyone under controll.

Cute pooch.

-Brian

Dogs are put on earth to show us what real unselfish love is all about.

Boat Dog was our dog Snowflake's nickname for a long time. She loves going out on the lake. She would hear me icing up coolers in the basement and go berserk until we let her get in the car. On the boat she loves to sit on the front with her nose in the wind. She's good for attracting girls in bikinis at the marina too :D We almost lost Snowflake a little over a month ago to undiagnosed diabetes, but thankfully she is doing great on insulin.

Ric - The pup looks great - She will keep you young

Why is it that if you blow in a dog’s face, it usually goes berserk, but when it gets in the car, it loves nothing better than to stick its head out of the window at 70 mph?

Hmmm our dogs have never had the problem, could that have something to do with one’s breath? (just asking, just asking!)

Dunno, me. Not had a dog of my own in more’n forty years. And when we had the dog, we couldn’t afford a car, too. I was in the Army, and my mom couldn’t drive, and my dad had just had both legs amputated and driving was not exactly his main priority.
