Large Scale Central

Maxi(Marklin) Question

I just got a Rheingold(54563) Maxi Locomotive, and I’m a little apalled at the lack of support I get from the store I bought it from, as well as from Marklin itself. I cannot get the unit to talk to the digital station. I may have made a mistake by playing with the address in a vain attempt to get it working, without writing down the original address. Does anyone out there have the same train?

Tony, welcome aboard. First, it’s rare that any dealer will provide support for a product, referring you to the manufacturer or an authorized service center. In fact, unless he’s an authorized service center, working on your locomotive could void the warranty. I know nothing about Marklin and have no idea who does their service work. Some body else here may.

Tony,

Welcome to LSC.

I don’t have a Märklin system, but generally any of the DCC systems have a factory reset procedure for the decoders. The reset code for a factory reset is “08”

According to Märklin’s info that engine has address “36”

Märklin said:
Schalter 1,2,3,4,7,8 auf "on", Schalter 5 und 6 auf "off".
The DIP switches should be set as listed above.

The list of the different addresses is here http://maerklin-info.de/systems/lok_datenbank_stand_2005-08.pdf
That list also shows the F functions.

Hope that helps
