Just found this … thanks, friends.
Dad died two weeks ago (Wed, 10/1) after fighting Glioblastoma Multiforme for nearly 14 months (notably, this is the same thing Ted Kennedy is believed to have.) We had admitted him to hospice the previous day, so he was able to stay at home for all but the last day and a half of his life. When I went to Connecticut a month ago it was with the idea that I’d give my mom a few days off from caring for him, but his condition began to deteriorate rapidly and a few days became a week, which became two, which eventually turned into a month. Dad is at rest now, and I’m back in North Carolina as of last Saturday night… I think I’ve slept most of the last few days … now that it’s over, it all seems to be catching up, and I never would have thought it possible to be exhausted after the fact to the verge of being ill – it is!
None of this would have been possible for me without the support of my wife, family, friends, and co-workers … thanks for all the kind words, prayers, thoughts, and other things over the last fourteen months. Things are returning to “normal” here… the trains will soon roll again, and I’m picking up life where I left off … and as I caught up on a month’s worth of missed stuff, I wanted to say “thanks” to my friends here.
