My memory isn’t short at all. I was a very active member of the LGBMRRC and attended many conventions. I attended numerous advisory level meetings. I saw the club’s graft personally! Even their proposed 2009 budget is already over $2000. in the hole.

I not only supported Lehmann’s decision, I lobbied for the world wide club for years before the choice was finally made. “alleged criminal act” is a real hoot!


Ah … St. Jack in action.

If you saw their graft personally and you didn’t speak up, then what were you? Too cowed by their power? Or just didn’t care enough since you were only a member? Or just couldn’t be bothered not to be Mr. Nice Guy who agrees with whatever?

I also had never heard of Ron G. until late last year, when I learned that he was ‘gunning’ for me. Must be terribly disconcerting jumping from one sinking ship to another and finding that your life preserver was intentionally holed.

So with that in mind.
I was right. they piccked the wrong team. LGBoA, G45 or who ever should have gotten it. then and only then if they did not make it could you Hans have been right.
By them not picking them and this taking place you must have been wrong. Only way to prove me wrong now is to post it in English.

you need to look at the history of the sale of Lehmann in 2006/2007, to understand that certain parties thought that the golden goose was going to be purchased very cheaply, maybe even a gentleman’s handshake. Problem was no one could find a gentleman to shake hands with. The bit part players were too busy stabbing each other in the back. The ‘sale’ was definately more intriguing than a normal acquisition should have been. From memory, the ‘coalition of the willing’ team had three attempts to put forward a decent bid on thecompany and yet failed to come up with the required funds, even though one of the team was a multi-millionaire businessman, who had recently sold a regional airline for a multi, muti- million dollar sum of money.

     The coalition bid was the more 'sensible' in that it guaranteed 110 jobs would remain in Nurnberg,  but alas,  where is LGBoA now?  Where is the main company, G45 now?  In fact,  of the main players in the coalition saga,  most,  if not all,  have since jumped ship and deserted their fanbase.  So much for loyalty.  There are still the stalwarts though,  that keep the home fires burning, the candle in the window and have tied the yellow ribbon at the gate,  just in case the 'team' miraculously resurrect and get what undoubtedly they were told was all theirs back in 2006.

Geoff, it's very simple, the other team didn't have the money or the smarts or both. They repeatedly low-balled the bid. Soooooooo let them be consultants! There's a saying in English: It's hard to piss with the big dogs, if you can't lift your leg high enough.

you answered your own questions.
G45 was put togather for the sole perpose of getting LGB. Once that did not happen no need to stay togather. The Old LGBoA is now Silvergate I belive. Don’t you remimber they had to give of hte LGBoA name. As for everyone jumping ship. Well you don’t have to be smart to know once they did not get LGB or the rights to distibute LGB stuff in the USA that there was going to be questions as to how long people would have jobs. Better to leave then get let go.

There are countless times that partnerships like G45 are put togahter for the perpose of buying a business. If they don’t get it then almost always that partnership is desalved. Its business.

Now, just so you know. The perpose to my post is to give Hans truble and have him put in English what the story is. I can’t read German. Besides Hans already knows this. But, I am right in saying that G45 could not have done worse.

Last thing. I’m not a LGB die hard. No yellow ribons or candles in the window for me.

LGBoA is a separate company to Silvergate. LGBoA was pensioned off in 2007/2008 to languish on a shelf, someplace. G45 was actually setup to manufacture model trains. G45 had big plans (unfortunately, they did not come to fruition) to be one of the big boys in model railroad manufacture. They apparently did not have sufficient financial backing and likewise finished up on a shelf. There was talk on several fora that the intent was to amass a collection of model railroad manufacturers and sell them as one huge company, thus implying that investment profit only, was the driving force.

I think you have mixed your memories. The above should be attributed to Kingsbridge! G-45 had no intentions beyond LGB.

If you are talking about the “General Trains” comment, that was about kingsbridge buying up Märklin/Trix, LGB and Hûbner and taking the new combined company public with a stock offering. General trains turned out to be Adler Toy, but it wasn’t in good enough shape to take public. It appears they were better at making companies than toys.

I swear i heard mention of a “G45” within the same text as “G8” on CBC newsworld in the last couple wks. No wonder the MR flavoured G45 was a failure . . . . . similiar political posturing !
