Large Scale Central

Marianna and Blountstown RR

SWMBO and I went to the Big Bend Model Railroad Association train show in Tallahassee, FL today. On the way back we stopped and took some photos of the #444 10 Wheeler. Somewhere on this or the other forum, someone was looking for information on a more modern standard gauge Annie. I thought these might fit that bill. First two pics are of the placard with a thumbnail history.

The rest are of the loco, tender and caboose.

Hope everyone enjoys. Now I have another Northwest Florida railroad to research. Bob C.

Cool pictures, Bob.
That would probably make an interesting shortline to model.

Thanks Ralph. I also found a web site where you can download PDF files of topo maps. I found ones dated back to the '50s for this guy. Also part of the old ROW has been converted to a trail. Not sure if it is part of the Rails to Trails program, but interesting none the less. I may have to get back and walk or bike part of the trail. It is billed as being the shortest shortline in Florida at 28-29 miles, depending on which story you read.

Wow, Bob! Looks almost like a B-Man 10- wheeler that’s all growed up.

That is some really bright red paint! You could probably see that caboose with your eyes closed!

Hey Bob,

Thanks for this posting. Marianna is right on our current route south to warmth in the winter time. We’ll had a stop and a little bike riding this coming Winter. Looks like a great place to explore.

Ric,

I live in Lynn Haven (a rocks throw north of Panama City). If you would like, get up with me on your way south and we might have a cup of coffee as you pass through.
