Large Scale Central

Mancos

Let’s see, if Ralph makes his own shingles he should have started yesterday!

I really like that depot. I assume this is the start of your logging line that loops up a rock wall above Mancos?

Actually this was just a rearrangement of the track that was already in Mancos to accommodate the new depot. I wanted to add a passing track, another siding and extend the existing siding.

The logging line, when and if it ever gets started, will branch off from Hesperus, which is the town up beyond Mancos. It’ll extend to above the town of Hesperus, to where that green and yellow pine tree is. (chamaecyparis)

All you "Eastern Boyz" with good weather make me envious. All's we have is rain, snow, and 45 mph winds. Can't even get around the layout for all the mud and water on the ground.

BTW nice looking addition there Ken, you didn’t have any small pets out helping you did you. Those hawks look pretty hungry.

It appears that your weather finely made it east. Now were having the same thing, with temps in the high 30’s…Thanx!!..

Used to have a small mutt, but it passed away a few months ago.

Jon, that tractor is on it’s second engine. The first one blew a piston ring or something, loosing power and blowing out clouds of smoke. The wife’s B-I-L was getting a new one so, I swapped motors.

But it still looks like new! Mine is on it’s second transaxle. It’s had a hard life behind a snow plow with a teenage driver, but the motor is still strong despite the fact that its about 3 years overdue for an oil change. It really needs a battery too. I’ve been jump starting it from my boat battery for over a year.

I didn’t think that particular tractor was heavy duty enough for a plow, so I never bothered to get one. It does need a new battery since I had to put a charger on it to use it. It does get an oil change every year before it’s used, though.

The tractor is the forgotten step child. I take much better care of our cars and boat  It did great with the plow. I added chains and wheel weights to supplement the natural ballast. One of the support bars broke a few years ago and I never bothered to replace it so the plow hasn’t seen use in a long time.

Gee my tractor looks much older than that one.
Coarse it was new back in 67.
It does a good job hauling stone back to my rail line.

Up hill both ways!

Day 3: The fat lady ain’t ready to sing yet, but all the track is down.

Nice…

Nice ! Mancos is starting to look like a small town already

Ken,

Great work. I appreciate and understand your efforts to save fuel when cutting the grass. Washington will reward you for your efforts. I think the rest of us will enjoy the track work.

Can’t wait to see this in person  Looking real nice Ken.

We all share in that goal, Ric. Looks good, Ken. Please send some Glow Ball War Ming my way. We just got 6 more inches.

The clothes line runs right over top of this area, and the funny thing is, I don’t think the wife has noticed she just lost about 3 more feet of clothes hanging area…
