Large Scale Central

Mancos

With the holiday hub-bub over with and after a few fits and starts, the roof is taking shape.

I had made up a card board mock-up for the tower roof. Once I got that where I liked it, I cut out the coroplast.

Ken Looking good… I like the construction technique, What glue or adhesive do you use to hold it all together?

Most of it is plumbing Goop............a few spots I've used contact cement.

gonna be done this weekend ?

Valspar…and it looks damn close too the color I picked for my combination car?

Yea, the spray can was so close it was hard to tell the difference from the sample can(Honey Beige). Had to get another pint of the Olympic stuff though.

What did you use for the interior bracing?

Ray, it’s a PVC board I cut down called Trimplank. It’s a wider version of the stuff I use for the ladder road bed. I cut them down to anywhere from 1" squares to 1/4" squares.

Well, I tried like hell, but this is as far as I got…

Some of the roof covered and the front door and some windows…

Unfinished freight end

Looks good Ken. Kind of glad it’s not finished yet , as I thought it was a winter build. Of course, if winter were as short as this build would have been, we’d all be happy.

Sweet!
The Valspar color I used was Hubbel House Golden Maize…or basically straw

Roof veneer is on, still needs a few details added…ran out of 1/4" angle…

I’m thinking I may paint the windows and doors before I add the siding. And I still have them to put on in the back…

It’s coming along great Ken. Is that Precision Products doors and windows?

OK I have a couple of questions, I’m getting ready to build a station over the winter, Who makes the clear windows and roofing you are using ? Nick The Union Station in Kingston NY

You can order the stuff direct from Ozark Miniatures. Since I was ordering a bunch of other stuff I bought mine from Caboose Hobbies.

Looking good Ken!

Nick,
Nice prototype!!

Hey Ken,

The station is “AWESOME” looking. I need to go round up some old election signs.

I had a bunch.....then lightning struck and burned down the shed :( I guess I'll have to wait for the election next Fall. But the politicians have gotten cheap and are using the "plastic bag" signs more & more.

Ken, the Depot looks great. Is that snow outside?
Ralph

Looking good Ken
