Mallet in winter

I hear you, just make sure you inhale that crappy plastic dust/smoke, although I’m sure you know

Anyone recall (Kevin?) when they pitched a 2-6-6-2 to the EBT? Wonder if theres a pattern here.
Though I can't find a specific reference, I believe it was right around the same time. The Uintah/Sumpter Valley locos were darned near 10' wide. Boy would that have dwarfed pretty much everything on the EBT!

On the domes, wrap some 60 grit sandpaper around the PVC pipe you’re using for the boiler and start sanding.

Minor update. Puttered around with main rods and eccentrics. Yes they are styrene. I have used this method for years. Those of you that remember my 1:32 days, my 2-4-4-2 No4 had her rods built this way and she still survives in storage in The Shop awaiting restoration. Its not like the rods are actually transferring any force, they’re just swinging around for the ride. They’ve even survived a major incident thats already occurred in bench top running.

Let me be the first to say

“You can’t do that with styrene!”

But, really, that looks good…and true about the stress, the siderods are just along for the ride.
