Yesterday my wife surprised me with a gift – a 5-disc boxed set of train videos, “Railway Journeys: The Vanishing Age of Steam”! Over ten hours of fuel for my addiction, to be injected directly into my eyes!
I started watching the first disc last night, which includes lengthy segments on the Cass and Mower logging railroads. Lots of Shay action! It also has Canadian Steam, and a bonus feature called the Best of Steam.
Disc 2 has Classic Steam of the 20’s & 40’s; Steam of the 50’s & 60’s; and a bonus featuring the California Zephyr.
Disc 3 has Steam of the 50’s; Steam Shortline of the South; and Wabash RR.
Disc 4 has Colorado Steam; Colorado Narrow Gauge; and Santa Fe Odyssey Pt. 1.
Disc 5 has Twilight of Steam;and Santa Fe Odyssey Pt. 2.
The set is nicely packaged and comes in a nifty tin. A small booklet is also included.
