Lubricants

The woodland scenic site was uninformative, so I’m looking for a link or advice.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why I might need such a large assortment of different lubricants?

yes. because they want to sell it.

i use Ballistol for weapons and locks (and against tecs)
liquid “Caramba” (a creeping oil) or WD 40 for bolts and mashinery
sewing mashine oil and Vaseline-paste for model trains
for everything leather a homebrew of pig’s fat and cow udder

I have only used two: Gear and light for side rods.

Yes. There’s really only 3 types visible? Dry graphite lubricant can be used for axles so they don’t collect dirt in your garden. Gear oil is obvious. White Moly grease is what Bachmann (and others) put in their enclosed gearboxes.
