LSC home of the best modelers

Time to toot my own horn and start this thread.
The winners are in on the 1:20.me bachmann bashing contest and LCS is home to a 2nd and 4th place winner. Both winners were DIESELS!!!(sorry Kevin!) Matt Brown and I are bringing home the plastic (cars)and fame for LSC !!! ( If the other 2 winners are on LSC I apologize for not recognizing them.)
The inspiration for my diesel came from an old thread on LSC. Tony W. posted a conversion sent to him by one of this customers( I don’t recall his name). That spurred Terry Weber to create another variant, Terrys conversion prompted my version. Looks like even through the heated off-topic debates the modeling chemistry still flows.

Thanks Bob for the opportunity to be a part of this site.
Thanks for all the input and inspiration ALL of you provide. Dave

Congratulations Dave and Mathew.

Yes Kudos to our guys

2nd Place is a nice model, but I don’t know if I’d call it a bash. More of a load build/detail job to me.

Dave,

I want to see some more of your engine; I’ve had some on hand I’ve been thinking of doing something similar with for awhile. I’d particularly like to see and hear about your treatment of the back wall of the cab… and the top of the hood!

Matthew (OV)

PS. Thanks guys…

Congratulations gents.

I want to see that too. I’ve been thinking of doing a short single truck/single or cut-down hood for a while.

Congrats, even if they are dismals…:frowning: :frowning:

Atta boy Davey. Yeah a pic of the front of the diesel with the double couplers. Congrats!

Congrats guys, way to go!

So actually, I guess it is really 3 out of 4.
Later.

Congrats, and excellent work!

Hey, can I help it if my current kitbash project is more LGB and Delton than Bachmann? I figured in terms of percentages, it didn’t quite qualify for the contest. Seriously, cool jobs, guys. Now, let’s see what you do with your prizes! I want to see them looking at least as good, if not better than your prize-winning models. Here’s what happened to the AMS flat car I won in their photo contest:

Later, K

I think LSC is home of 4 of the 4.

Patties or links?

I’ll have links, please.

Congrates to ALL of you!

I really like the Diesel! It marks the large side of the “Critter Class”.

Congratulations everyone! Now, how about some posts about them over here?

Well done, guys. Very nice models.

http://slatecreekrailway.blogspot.com (If you’re reading this a year from now when the “Davenport Rollout” is no longer at the top, click on March 2009 … ) Matthew (OV) Oh … one of my favorite parts of this story is the exhaust stack. I’d drawn it twenty times (like the 50 times I’d drawn the grille!) and worked out what I wanted… but I couldn’t find a toy tractor with the right kind of stack that didn’t look, well, toyish. All of the stacks that might have worked on model trucks came with … well, a model truck that wasn’t 1:20, and was really expensive, particularly for just the one stack … so I drew it again, and again, trying to think what might work beyond trying to solder a bunch of brass tube together… And then I looked at what I was drawing with …

Fortunately, the bank had given us a bunch of these for a recent fundraiser… so I had a couple of chances to goof up, and still have something to write with!
