We got a nice break in the weather today. Still warm, in the 80’s, but quite a bit less humidity and no rain 'till after dark. I’m nursing a case of tendinitis probably caused by moving rock and shoveling ballast , so I needed a good “light duty” task to take advantage of the weather.
The moss around Deep Cut has needed weeding since spring, and I had several plants still in pots waiting to be planted. Got about 30 foot of railroad plus two beds weeded. Planted three plants we picked up this spring and moved one of the volunteer Hemlocks (a third year seedling) which had a surprisingly long root.
I also tried an experiment with two first year Hemlock seedlings. I moved them to cracks in the rocks along Deep Cut. If they survive I’ll try a few more.
Was planning to run a train and take some pictures, but ran out of daylight There’s always tomorrow.
