Lower humidity = Higher motivation

We got a nice break in the weather today. Still warm, in the 80’s, but quite a bit less humidity and no rain 'till after dark. I’m nursing a case of tendinitis probably caused by moving rock and shoveling ballast , so I needed a good “light duty” task to take advantage of the weather.

The moss around Deep Cut has needed weeding since spring, and I had several plants still in pots waiting to be planted. Got about 30 foot of railroad plus two beds weeded. Planted three plants we picked up this spring and moved one of the volunteer Hemlocks (a third year seedling) which had a surprisingly long root.

I also tried an experiment with two first year Hemlock seedlings. I moved them to cracks in the rocks along Deep Cut. If they survive I’ll try a few more.

Was planning to run a train and take some pictures, but ran out of daylight :frowning: There’s always tomorrow.

LIES I TELL YOU !! We want pictures! ;)

This weather has turned motivating.

I feel your pain Jon, I have been moving rocks for the last 3 days with the direction from my wife so she can start planting. Well I won’t be doing that for a few days between my back and the smashed finger tonight.

And yes Rooster I will post some pictures on a new posting later.

No happy motivational stories on my end. I got something blocking the drain at my washing machine drain that causes a constriction and occassional water overflow into the kitchen. PITA…I’ve already run a hand snake down it but something is still there. Have to rent a power snake now…

I agree the weather feels great and makes you want to get out and move again. Roosters right where are the pictures. Hopefully come sept we can get together and run some trains on your layout. Dont worry Ill ignore the yard.

Not so lucky here. It was still 95 degrees and humid yesterday =(

OK, I admit it. I was done before dark, but really just wanted to sit and drink a beer admiring all that I got done in one evening :o

Ah Haaaaa... So the truth does come out, after all..... :)

Weather today was even nicer. Did a few small chores (planting some rocks) then got out a train and the camera. I’ll post a few here and a few in the summer run thread. One of the rocks planted helped to dress up the transition from PT roadbed to ladder with fill…

Another dressed up the right hand side of the track where it passes through a retaining wall at Indian Hill…

Here’s one of the volunteer seedlings transplanted to the wall of Deep Cut…

An over-all view of deep-cut after removing about a bushel of weeds from the moss…

The third-year volunteer at middle left in a bed cleaned up yesterday…

More moss clean up at the Walk Landing Trans-Load Facility…

More in the other thread.

Looking good. Ican deal with this weather year round low 70’s during the day and low 50’s at night. I woke up this morning to 51.

Jon,

Those really are great pictures. Put a beer on my tab and sit back and enjoy your work. It turned out great.

What are you smoking?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

If I know Rooster, he’s probably smoking either Camels or Mellow Yellow.

You know what Mellow Yellow is, don’t you?

Saffron?

Steve…

Well, see, you scrape the inside of a banana peel, let it dry, then roll…

Or so I’m told. I never did any of that stuff, that I remember. :stuck_out_tongue:
