Looking for Sound Card with horses noises

I have an LGB 41682 Wild West Rodeo Wagon with horse sounds which runs off a 9 volt battery. It is one of my daughters favorites. Unfortunately the sound card has died (Corrosion). Tried new battery, electronic cleaner and no luck. Label on back of sound car reads

Pferdesound

ME 010255 1140

8.837110.34

Are there LGB replacement or aftermarket sound cards available?

Thanks

RAM Car and Track has one listed (RAM 151 HORSES). I have no experience with ordering from them so can’t speak to the quality. ReindeerPass sells some RAM Sound cards, you may want to contact them.

Scroll down past the train sounds.

Thank you for the quick answers. I ordered “Horses being transported” from Innovative Train Technology Products.

Tommy… The ITT sound cards are great. George is super easy to work with!!! Glad you found the site… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Will these operate off a single 9-volt? If so, I may have some winter projects to take care of!

From ITT Products website instructions for GL Single Sound Modules

Input Voltage: 9 to14 volts DC. Do not use train controller transformers for power.

This is the LGB 41682 Wild West Rodeo Wagon car getting the sound card:

And John’s suggested power supply:

I suppose it will work, but won’t the extension cord make the car derail? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

(I’m guessing John assumed it was a static display)

Greg, maybe he could solar power the card in the car, or wind turbine power the card…

I was just channeling my inner Stacy. If you remember Stacy and the total lack of electrical knowledge that member had.

That brings up a fond memory, remember Izzard, when he came to the forum with a brand new and exclusive way to combine cells in battery packs, it 8 cells and it was baloney? When pressed for a schematic, he showed an end view of a pack with the strips connecting cells. The particular one I found was the solar powered car, a flexible solar panel bent into an arch on either a flat or a gondola… turns out he hid a battery inside, and after a number of questions, it would have taken about 12 cars to run a loco in full sun…

Anyway, apparently John has just posted on another thread I am a “cyber stalker” because I made fun of this… come on John, can’t even laugh at yourself a bit? Loosen up.

Greg

Put the sound card in with a reed switch to for the trigger. It sounds great!!! But we have a minor problem. A brand new 9 volt battery works for awhile. But there is not enough volts to keep running the card.

I will be replacing the 9 volt battery with a 8x1.5 12v battery pack next week.

Since I am DCC I would use the LM7809 and super caps to power a sound unit, and use a current limiting resistor and diode in the charging circuit. This can work for track power DC users also.

Thanks everyone. Sound card is finished and the car sounds like horses. Added the 8x1.5 12v battery pack. Replaced the reed switch with a mini toggle switch. Battery pack has an on/off switch and the toggle switch activates the sound.

Funny I’m not hearing anything …(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Put your ear to the screen… doh!

Ah yea, now I hear it…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Took a little time to figure how to do videos. Thanks for the messages and instructions.

Not to hijack Tommy’s thread, but back in the day…when I still had a mighty outdoor railroad empire I fiddled around with sounds a bit. My favorite outcome was arranged over three of my boxcars. I installed one sound card from ITT and one from RAM inside what was to become the middle boxcar; each card had a different flange squeal recording. I then drilled a bunch of holes in the floors of each end of the other two boxcars. I installed two speakers face-down on each end of those boxcars. I then connected one speaker from each sound card to each speaker, using micro connectors from Minatronics. As a result, each boxcar played the sound from each card on individual speakers, separated by the boxcar in the middle. Confused yet?

All coupled up, here’s the result, a proper short fast Grande freight:

Sorry for the poor quality, but hey - it was 15+ years ago. In later years I built stockyards, and yes, my stock cars moo’d.

Cheers,

Matt
