Large Scale Central

LOOKING FOR INFORMATION

I’m looking for any information on the St. Charles Station company owned by the late Louis Casanelli. I have a brass model of an RS-1 locomotive that I need parts for. I would like to know if someone took over or purchased this business and if parts are even available. I know the motor blocks are from NWSL but I need side frames for my trucks.

Chuck

Basically, he took all the parts and the expertise with him.

He was the definitive one-man band.

He never once responded to anything I wrote him before he passed on, and he sure as heck ain’t going to be doing it now, unless you know a good medium.

Motor blocks and side frames from an LGB White Pass should work.
I wouldn’t know the difference.

Ah, RS-1 = four axles total.

LGB White Pass loco = six axles total.

Just sayin’.

Aristo side frames from an RS3, might be closer…a lot depends on the scale the locos were built in…supposedly, the Aristo side frames are 1:29. What scale were the St.Charles Station Alco models built in ? The main problem might be the actual axel spacing on the model. Aristo may have replacement side frames available. Call them up and ask.
Mounting them on the model you have might be a bit of a challenge, but that’s part of Model Railroading…challenges !!

…Alco locomotives were not all like what LGB produced.

Unfortunitly the Aristo RS-3 frames are to big. I believe this model is a 1/32 scale but I could be wrong. I know the RS-1 was a smaller unit then the RS-3. I have already put this unit next to one of the RS-3 I have and the frame and area for the trucks is much smaller. A set of RS-3 trucks will not fit.

You would think that some family member or friend would have what was left of the business or even parts.

Chuck

I thot that unit was an RSD-1.
