Large Scale Central

looking for figures

Bill, I understand where you are coming from. I am always looking for large scale figures to add to the layout. The shiny ones I find are hard to change colors so you have a variety of people. Just Plain Folk paint is dull acrylic paint so you can change the color of clothes to increase variety. Train shows is a good place to pick up people like you want. Host of the people for my houses were found at train shows.

Best ones I have found for detail are the Maulsworld Diorama figures that I found on ebay, super nice dealer and shipping is inexpensive if ordering in quaintly just not RR figures I used the mechanic with tool box and adapted him by getting rid of the wrench and changed the tool box to a log

Just found this site https://www.modelu3d.co.uk/ Maybe something here for you.

I have some LGB (1/22) and Bachman (1/20) figures that I need to clean out. PM if interested.

Mark, those are large sale? There are some nice ones in the list. I did not see how much they were in U.S. dollars.

I got my tiny detail brushes last week so I started painting the figures I got from China. The young police lady, while looking OK from the front, turned out her jacket was riding up at the back so she was a little x-rated. So a skirt was added - still looks pretty distracting. Lots of details to take care of, including the sheen on his jacket.

She and the guy on the left are the size of the credit card, and are supposed to be 1:20, so I guess they are. (The Costume Daphne in black is 1:24th, and the loco is 1:27.)

Ron:

Since these are 3D printed you can order each figure at your desired scale. Find a figure you want and left-click “SELECT OPTIONS” and then left-click on the SCALE: option that has “Choose an option”. You will see the available scales that can be ordered and the associated price in Pounds when selected.

You can just use something like Google to convert Pounds to Dollars

I haven’t ordered from them nor investigated their shipping rates. I am assuming that they will ship internationally.

Bill, have you checked out this website: http://www.rocketfin.com/diorama-figures.cfm

Wow. What a selection, and 1:20 at the bottom. Some I’ve never seen - Red Riding Hood with a rifle?

quite a selection, not much old stuff or train either but good detail, I’m afraid if I got some of those I would forget what is was doing and just stare, LOL, thanks Bill

What I line about flat mat paint on figures is that you can go to Wally World, but a bunch of different colored acrylic paints and have a whole new person for the layout. I have tried to paint the shiny people, without much success.

That’s what Krylon clear flat is for.

yea everything I do gets a bath in Krylon matt finish and it is a UV protectant as well

There was figures that Aristo Craft offered on their website but I think they were a stand along company. I cannot remember their name. Do you have an idea?

Ron have you purchased anything from this website, looking throught the site some look like picures of plastic model cars with a figure included. Just wondering how well the figures are and if they are what the picture shows.

Some really go looking figures in more ways than 1 but again no railroad ones, Just plain folk had some good ones but think the went out of business, best I have found so far for the money is American diorama ones and  $6.98 each, hard to beat and they do have a couple in blue bib overhauls, also saw some 1:20 ones one EBay but at 3 and 1/2' tall just too big for some of my engines

Is it called Maulsworld on ebay?

Ron, that’s him be careful some of his figures are 1:16

Here’s an interesting thread from another forum - More figures for the PLR

Perhaps some of these are of proper scale and era.
