Large Scale Central

Looking for an F scale American 4-4-0 @ York

I am still looking for an American, 4-4-0 in 1:20.3, Baldwin type. I prefer a wood burner, road name not real important I’ll be naming it USMRR.

Standard or Narrow gauge?

It should be standard gauge 4-4-0 for USMRR, but that would look smaller than I’d prefer, a narrow gauge might be better. I’ll use a bit of “artistic license” with this, it just needs to be ready for 1-3/4" track.

Good luck, even the HLW is mostly a 1/24 scale model, but can work for standard guage as demonstrated by their “General” and “Jupitor” models of it, Bachmanns is a narrow gauge proto, but I wonder how a 1/29 figure would look in it or if it could be recabbed to 1/29 or 1/32 scale and still look right. Those Americans were pretty generic NG to SG.

The only actual large scale standard gauge model I know is the AMC static plastic model of the “General” which is 1/25 scale but makes the gauge over 2 incches wide. If you are particualrly daring, it can be rebuilt to G but it would be a major project.

I’ll stick with the 1:20.3 Bachman or similar size/price range engine. I have no problem with a brand-spanking new one, but if one is cluttering up someone’s shop and wants to have cash for it, I may be able to accommodate.

Email sent to you reference two of them here in Sothwestern Indiana , Evansville .
