Looking for a LGB combine

I have been kicking round a bash in my mind. I have a set of the LGB Pennsylvania short passengers cars plus the baggage car but they never made a combine and I want one.
I think a long car could be cut down to make a shortie.
I went to Lowes and got paint that matches the reddish/brown really well and now I need a car.

If anyone has one of the LGB combines in the darker shade of the reddish/ brown such as the Pennsy or Sandy River collecting dust that they would sell for a song, let me know. I don’t need the trucks.
Thanks.

There is one on ebay, opening bid $69.95.

I have seen several on Ebay but they are never cheap. I have a like new DRGW yellow one in the box and it just doesn’t seem right to hack it up plus being yellow it would mean having to do a lot more painting.
I was hoping to find a dusty one on the cheap that I wouldn’t feel so bad about chopping up. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Did you find a combine? I bought this used LGB caboose at a show, it has lights and knuckle couplers installed. No plan to convert my fleet to knuckle couplers, I figured I’d just convert it back. Well the truck draw bars were cut to add the couplers. Those long draw bar trucks not available new, used, more than I paid for the caboose.

I understand not exactly what you are looking for, but long windowless side areas. Add the loading doors?

That is a fine looking caboose Wayne.

I should have been more clear on what I’m looking for.
I have 2 shortie LGB passenger cars plus the baggage car in Pennsy colors. I’d like a combine but LGB never made a short combine for their starter set cars.
I was thinking, if I could find a long one then I could cut it down to size but on Ebay they range from $55 to $120 plus shipping. That is too much to spend on something that is going under the saw so I was hoping that someone might have one kicking round , collecting dust, with or without trucks that they would let go.

I have a LGB combine in the bright yellow of the DRGW but it is like new in the box and it would be a shame to hack it up plus being bright yellow it would require a lot more painting inside and out.

LGB made the Pennsy and the Sandy River combines in that dark brownish red so either would work.

Here is a photo I found of one on Ebay. LGB pennsy

Todd;

Perhaps a long shot, but I believe USA Trains made a shorty combine at one time. A search may uncover one for sale. I’m pretty sure USA had the PRR colors.

There are many for sale on eBay, I just purchased a combine and a passenger car for $45.00 each and $12.00 shipping. I always make the seller and offer for less if I want the item, say it’s for sale for $55.00 I might off $45.00, sometimes they may take it and many times they will come back with a different offer. The Tuscan Red Pennsy LGB cars will have the windows with the curtains on the windows, I wanted them for my executive cars repaints on my railroad. Nice job on your cars you redid.
