Looking for two Bachmann passenger cars to use as donors for their roofs and underbodies. I hate to cut up the 2 brand-new ones that I already have, but seeing the asking prices on eBay for used and new ones, I may just use my 2 “new” ones.
Bud,
I see on Han’s Flyer at Gold Coast Station that he has the Bachmann obsevation coach kits for $20 each. The trucks and wheels alone are worth $20.00.
I have three of the Jackson coach bodies no trucks or interiors I took the interiors. Comes two to a box. Say 10 bucks plus shipping if that is the style you are looking for???
Cheers
Scott
Hi Scott.
Works for me. THANK YOU. I’ll take all three if that’s OK with you. Can I send you payment via PayPal? (Or, let me know if some other way.)
Bud
Hi Scott,
I’ve email’ed Hans to find out what price to ship to me would be, but haven’t heard back yet. Thank you.
Bud
Sorry, I meant to address the below to you Tim, not Scott.

My apologies to you both, Scott and Tim.

Hi All,
Still learning to use the Forums, so sorry for all the “duplicate postings” here.

Hmmm Roofs and underbodies ??? What do you have up your sleeve Mr Griffin. Whatever it is I’m sure it will be great like your other builds I have seen. But wait shouldn’t you be outside laying track and ballast?? LOL
Todd
Hi Todd,
“Outside” in all this rain??? I have often been accused of being nuts. And I won’t argue that. But not “outside” - today - in this rain. I’ve been outside every other day this week “ballasting”. Today I takes a break.
Uses for the B.cars:
I’m going to combine the roofs and underbodies of the Bach.pass.cars with a pair of Accucraft sides to make a “cheap” Jackson & Sharp passenger car for the RR.
Will splice two roofs [and underbodies] to get the correct length. Then split the resulting roof/underbody lengthwise to widen it to the correct width. Shouldn’t be too hard, just very time-consuming. (Very boring?)
With luck I may end up spending less than what it might cost to buy the Accucraft car. Wont’ be as detailed, but " at 10 feet . . . "
If not, stupidity strikes yet again. (Won’t be the first time for that.)

Bud,
I was on the same quest as you and I found that Nicholas Smith was selling the Bachmann Coach kits at ECLSTS for a mere $25. You could call them and ask if they’ll honor that price.
P.S. EBT Coach #6 was only 7’ 1" wide, which is the same as the Bachmann in 1:20.3. You don’t have to widen it if you don’t want.
Hi Pete.
THANK YOU very much for the info. But I’ve now purchased a total of 6 Bachmann cars (kits) - less trucks - so don’t think I’ll need any more for a while. Re: EBT coach: An excellent thought! I did consider using the EBT coach as my “prototype”, but decided that I wanted something more in proportion to the current Accucraft Jackson & Sharp models since I’m making my [first?] coach using a set of Accucraft sides that I obtained at the NELS 2011 meet.
Widening Bachmann cars is not really a big problem, since to be accurate to 1:20.3 you have to make the end doors higher and wider anyway to be in scale. Widening the roof and the floor/underframe is likewise not difficult, just time-consuming waiting for the glue to dry.
BTW: I’m now looking for some passenger trucks for the cars. I have some Bachmann trucks, but wonder what else in the way of passenger trucks might be available. (That is other than the Accucraft J&S trucks that you see advertised all over at $74.95/pair. Don’t really want to spend that much. IMHO might as well buy the whole Accucraft J&S coach if I had to spend that much on just a pair of trucks.)
