So kinda bummed about the small amount of 1:20.3 rolling stock available RTR. Have not seen any outside braced box cars. Thinking of bashing a Bachmann F&CC box into one. Anyone know of any plans or kits out there? Found some plans from GR but it was a little more “back woodsie” than what I had in mind.
Oooh, just like this…

Who woulda thunk searching here!
Can ya help me Bruce???
If Bob has any left he may chime in
Found the article on Bob’s cars…Very nice. I like the horizontal siding on Bruce’s cars too.
I am a bit surprised that no one makes these commercially…Would seem a good fit for AMS or Bachmann.
I have a couple of flats doing nothing that would make great “donor” cars for the under-frame, trucks, brake fittings, etc. There are a few of these old cars being used as farm sheds around here, may have to go take a few pictures and “scratch one up”.
Here’s a link to Garden Railways plans for an outside braced boxcar.

I didn’t have any plans for mine. I did use the acrylic sides I got from Andre - these scale out to a 30’ boxcar.

It’s a bit more weathered now…that was just too clean!
I really like the composite ends on this car…something different. I’ll have to see if I can’t figure out a way to scratch that. Thanks!
