Logging Locos and Passenger cars

Would it be unreasonable on the Redmond Creek RR to have logging locos pulling passenger cars?

Well, they do on the Cass, and THAT’s a real logging line. As for what YOU do - it’s YOUR railroad - you do what YOU want to do! tac Ottawa Valley GRS

If it was big enough or I was small enough, I’d ride it just so I could watch and hear it run. Cass is a trip.

Tim,
They do it all the time over at the Mount Rainier Scenic.
It’s not unreasonable at all.
I have old pics in some of my books showing geared locos pulling passenger cars.

Well the problem you have is the term “logging locomotive”…theres really no such thing…simply locomotives adapted for logging use…a geared locomotive is just fine pulling passenger cars…I plan on doing it myself …Many first locomotives on lfesgling line were of a geared or industiral variety…ever those cute lil porter 0-4-0s may have been pressed into passenger service from time to time…

Thanks for all the tips! I have been running my Redmond Creek RR today wth one of my Climax’s. What fun! Here’s a short video. http://timothydehan.com/redmondcreekrr/videos/ClimaxPassenger.wmv Also, because of what you mentioned Bart, I just finished building a little tender using the Harland flat bed kit as a base for one of my 0-4-0 Porters pulling another Redmond Creek RR passenger car. Thanks!

Yup, on the english G scale mad forum we have a rule, rule 8 - do what you want, it’s your railway(road)!!!

PS = It’s nice to see a post about trains… :slight_smile:

…and in between the custard-consists, black-pudding eating contests and cake-stand competitions, they even have the odd mention of large-scale trains, so I spose that it’s pretty unusual to see anything about trains on just about ANY forum these days, eh?

Trains? Wassat? :lol:

Timmy, I think that Climax looks horrible pulling Passenger Cars!..it should be on a more industrialized line…say…like the NBRR here in the Upstate of SC, I will forward my mailing address and if you will pass along yours, a Bachmann Annie will be on its way in trade… :slight_smile:

just kiddin’ I believe it will do just fine!

Actually Timmy;
It was proto typical for some logging railroads to use old passenger cars as crew cars and such. Woods and Iverson (of Tiger Mountain fame) did.

Well, to be fair T, the black puddings and custard tankers are trains!! :slight_smile: …less said about cakes the better I agree, but it doesn’t degrade into a flame war…just a few nutters having a chat. Mostly, but not entirely about trains…!!! I think there’s only one thread, or maybe two, about the Bankrupt German Train Manufacturer too…!!! (Currently 16 on here…hmmm…).
