Thos’re Ely-Thomas prototypes (like the Climax from the hills of WV) and I think they are Russel cars from Russel Ky (bout 20 miles from me) and Bbo Hartford use to have a kit for them, not to mention all the bits to make yer own kit…

Those are great kits from Hartford. If you look closely at the Bachmann log skeletons there is quite a bit of that same detail on them. It just needs to be brought out with paint from the background.

Cradle of Forestry is probably one of the better railroad museums that I’ve been to. Is that equipment maintained with State money or is their a group that works on it?

Ric, it is a Federal park if memory serves correct, I’d assume Uncle Sam pays someone to maintain…?

The Cradle of Forrestry was set up as a conservatory by Congress.
I don’t think it is a Federal Park, but can’t check for sure as their internet domain has expired.

yeah, after post I was looking to verify and found same...did see a mention of 501c3...not sure why though? The folks that work there are Rangers of some sort that wear same uniform of the rangers in Davidson River Campground us down the road?

“The Cradle of Forestry” is certainly well maintained and unbelievably accessable. When we were there, I was able to climb under the Climax comfortably to check on how the brake gear worked. It was a great experience. Nobody to ask, no ropes to sneak over or under just open to view and climb on.
