Log Cabin build, partway through

My wife got me a Timberline Station log cabin kit for Christmas. Finally getting it together. Well made kit of cedar , parts fit real well. I’m using Titebond III and nails. Roof is plywood with cedar shakes. I think I may cover the plywood with some thin metal, then glue the shakes on. I figure that will make for better waterproofing.

Nice looking cabin.
Reminds me of the " Lincoln Logs" I had as a kid.

Finished up the cabin, was a nice build. I used gray latex caulk for the mortar on the chimney wood form, worked well as gray mortar, I thought. I used some deck stain we had on hand for the walls. Got some new Thompson’s to use on the roof, it’s a multi-purpose type, water based and dries fast. I also used it on the concrete board base. It’s supposed to let the wood gray up some. Lights will be strung, once the ground dries up some.

I like how it fits in with the three spruces I put in a few weeks ago. I hope the green ‘grass’ makes it and spreads.
