Locomotive running DCC runs full speed before handheld is turned

I’m converting an SD-45 over to onboard battery power with QSI decoder/sound board and G-Wire.

If I turn on the locomotive before turning on the handheld… the locomotive takes off like a rocket. Is there a setting to fix this problem? I have the QSI Programmer.

Always turn on the handheld first. Without the command from the handheld, all the loco sees is full power, whether battery or track. Full power equals rocket power.
