Locomotive Boilers and Engines

While surfing the net looking for info on how a T-boiler system works, I came across a 177 page PDF of a book entitled Locomotive Boilers and Engines written in 1920. It includes everything from “The Rocket” and “The Best Friend of Charleston” to “modern” super-power locomotives. It is an amazing read.

For some reason I couldn’t get it to hotlink.

Here it is as a Google eBook

It contains more than you will ever want to know about those beasts.

Enjoy.

Thanks Steve.
I downloaded the PDF and will save it for later

WOW… Did a quickie read thru and scanned most of the 177 pages… I will print out the whole book and give it to an engineer friend thats getting into trains. He’ll find it fascinating reading. There is a ton of accumulated knowledge in that book.

any pitchers?..

Loved the picture of the Erie 0-8-8-0 Mother Hubbard - can you imagine firing that thing!

Thanks for posting that Steve. It reminds me a lot of a book I have callled Classic American Locomotives. It’s packed with refrences and cross sections tovarious parts of steam locomotives technology. http://www.amazon.com/Classic-American-Locomotives-Charles-McShane/dp/1592280544
