Large Scale Central

Location signs

Last year I made up some quick paper-on-wood signs for locations. I’m now re-making them in a more permanent fashion. Styrene sheet, shapes and letters, and some paint effects.

Bob
Those look really good.
For size reference is that first one on an 8 1/2 by 11 page?
Where do you get the lettering and what sizes are available?
Rick

Yea, exactly. Thats on a notebook. The lettering is 1/2" tall, used for those black push-in signs:

I’ve seen it in 1/4 to 1", and I assume there are other sizes out there.

Those look very neat! I might have do one or two for my layout.

Did you cut strips for the edging of the signs? Signs are in my future! Those look good.

Nice, faux cast copper  I could have made those up for you here in the shop from real copper, probably about $200 each

The edges are 3/16 square styrene tube, beveled.

Resin casting for the common ones, like East-West…

Cool!

Only going to have one east/west sign, at Burke, since you can head out east or west from there. East on the railroad is north, and west is south, until the railroad loops around an east becomes south, then west, then actually east, and eventually you come back into Burke from the west, heading east. No wonder I need signs!

Bob,

Those look great!

Reminds me of the old I-95 signs in Connecticut; our town had "Rhode Island and East" for I-95 North, and "New Haven and West" for I-95 South.

And, in South Carolina, it’s possible to be travelling west, on one road that’s simultaneously one state route “North” and another state route “South.”

Are we there yet?

Gorgeous spring day today. Mounted the 3 signs I have done so far.
