As I’ve mentioned before, I have the lizards in our yard (and on the layout) trained to eat from my hand. Well, I just uploaded a short video of it:
They must look like Komodo Dragons when they’re on your layout…
Nice pets…
What fun!
But maybe, when I get a place where I can have a pet, I’ll go for a kitty cat.
Hey Ray, now if ya got some"lounge lizards" of the female persuasion to view the layout or visit, may increase yer attendance. Jest funnin/kiddin!! Hah LOL The Regal
Hehe! Cute little fellers. I had several resident lil’ lizards residing in my first rolling stock storage shed. It had a corrugated fiberglass roof that allowed light and heat inside making it all warm and snug there.
While I never had them so tame as to feed them it was a kick to lift a roof hatch and find two or three lounging on a boxcar roof with their legs all stretched out looking like beach sunbathers. They didn’t seem to like to leave their perches even when the cars were rolled out and would often ride the train for some distance.
Aside from a bit of lizard poop on the car roofs they didn’t cause any harm and kept the shed clear of insects.
Thanks for the video. That’s a kick!
My car storage unit is populated with wasps. Can you ship up a couple of those lizards?
Pretty cool, Ray. I never tried hand feeding the lizards around here. Since they eat bugs, I let them roam at will. Ralph My GRR has quite a few of these lizards calling it home. Not my picture.

I also have quite a few of these. They change color from brown to green. Also not my picture.

As an avid catch and release bass fisherman in the northeast I often wondered why they made artificial lizards in the colors they do…that picture is a perfect example! The bass won’t touch those blue tailed lizards round here. Ain’t natural to them I guess? Nice picture
Cool blue-tailed skink! We have those here too but they tend to be secretive and aren’t seen very often.
Sometimes when I’m working on the layout, one of our little guys will suddenly get right up in my face to tell me he wants to be fed. Or give my hand a little nip.
I had a toad that liked my pond. Neighbor ran over it in the drive way.
Have to wait and see if a new one shows up. they seem to figure out once a pond is in.
Don’t worry, it won’t take long before another toad takes up residence.
Unless you have coons.
They destroy my pond on a regular basis.
