With this being one of the 1:32 locos I always wanted plus a few people recently inquiring about the possibility, it would be good to bring a nice 1:32 locomotive to market after the recently well received 0-4-2 Fairymead and previous Masonbogie. It will as the others, be a highly detailed model and built from the ground up from original drawings and cards. I also have many hi resolution builders photos along with the original works drawings to make this another great model. The tender will be the standard 70-P-66 designed for Passenger use but will look equally good hauling freight.
Great choice, Jason! A smaller model of a popular genre from the Keystone railroad will get a huge paying audience, I hope.
I’ts time to get real in thse days of hauling your belt in - it’sall very well having Challengers and FEF’s steaming all over the place, but not that many of us have the odd $10K-$14K hanging around waiting to get spent on a toy train.
Good luck in your venture!

Tac,
I think some of the problem you speak of is our own doing. The only locomotives that get any attention are the large locomotives. For instance. Accucraft has brought out an SP 2-6-0 live steamer. You never hear about it. Mention a streamline NYC Hudson or a big Boy and that’s all you read about. The threads go on forever.
And the problem is not just here in live steam. In the smaller scales, that is a problem that has be going on since the late 50’s when the importers started with the early brass from Japan. But at least a wide range of locomotives has been done for the smaller scales, a range I don’t believe we’ll ever see in our scales.
The problem of selection is our problem not the manufacturer. When a manufacturer announces a new locomotive everybody goes gaga over it and buys it only to start complaining that such and such locomotive doesn’t exists yet we all go on buying what is fed us. It’s time we said No! That’s not what we want.
One complaint I Have is the lack of cylinder drain cocks on locomotives. Only the really large locomotives come equipped with them. Why is that? Water in the smaller cylinders is just the same as in big cylinders. But then I see a lot of videos were the owner/operator doesn’t use them correctly or not a all.
So as long as manufacturers continue to cater to the collectors, the big and flashy is all they will ever make.

As Jason in the US and Ian over here have proven, you don’t have to think big to get AccuCraft to build you a top-selling model. Here in UK we’ve had the Isle of Man locos selling like ice cream in July - I think that the order book for the third run of ‘Peveril’ is almost sold out. The Countess/Earl locos were an instant and well-deserved success, too, as is almost every item of rolling stock that goes with them. Even the Garratt, limited to just 450 all over the world, had a lot of disappointed people turned away at the end.
The new Lynton & Barnstaple ‘lew’ has a waiting list reaching in the next year…
In the US, Jason has had well-deserved success with the Mason bogie, a brave venture by Messrs Fletcher and Mr Cheng that came good. Sadly, but the time it reached here the cost was stratospheric, and I’ve never seen one, even at a show. The ‘Fairymead’ will be another well-deserved success, especially over here in UK, where our 7/8th scale following is easily ten times bigger than yours stateside, although it’s catching on, I’m happy to say.
I guess that you do have a point - folks coming to see live steamers, for the most part, want to see big locos, and not the ‘blue collar’ workers that kep the lines full of trains after the varnish had gone on its way.

I would rather see the smaller stuff running over the big stuff. Yes the Big Boy is nice to see but my eyes will always drift over to the smaller engines like the Cricket, Konrad and Lady Ann. The big stuff doesnt excite me as much (shut up Rooster)
Im not one for standard gauge but someday I would like to get one to run at events etc… the Atlantic would be a perfect one for me. Its not an engine that typicaly pulled long trains. If the price is right I might get one.
How about a Canadian National E-10a 2-6-0 Mogul? There are two in steam right now!

Yeah, I’d go for a Live Steam model of #89.
