Little Black Train a Coming (On the LRRR)

“Little Black Train A Coming” is the latest video release from Choo Choo Films and Little River Productions.

It is a film of trains with a message.

The song ‘Little Black Train’ is done in a Blue Grass style by IIIrd Tyme Out . The song has its roots in Southern and Appalachian Gospel music dating back to the 1880’s. It was popularized by Gospel preachers in the 1920’s. It was later sung by the famous Gospel group, the Carter family, who recorded it on one of their records.

This little movie stars Little River Rail Road Engine #1. She is a little 0-4-0 Porter by Bachmann in 1:20.3 scale. Power is supplied in a trailing battery box car. The combination baggage/passenger car is scratch built in 1:20.3 scale as well.

Hope you enjoy the film.

Thanks Steve. I changed the setting a second time to “public.” Confused as to why it didn’t go with the first “public” listing. Let me know if further problems.

…grinning…

I don’t know which one I like better, the Bluegrass or the video, but that’s the first time watching a train video that had me tappin my foot…

Excellent Tom, very much enjoyed that.

Great little video… nice work…

Luvit. Great production, Tom!

Great as always, But miss the funny ones.

Outstanding! I loved it.

Thanks fellas. Bluegrass music seems to go well with train videos. I first heard “Little Black Train” done by a Gospel group at a volunteer appreciation dinner for our Helping Hands Free Clinic in rural Elkton Kentucky. One of the singers knew I was in to trains …and they just had to do this song. It is a catchy tune that stays with you and reminds me of the rhythm of a train moving down the tracks.

Thanks for watching.

Tom

I like it. Catchy tune nice shots and editing, Well done.
you have some nice trestles and bridges on your RR.

Well done! The music is fun and you did a great job editing and filming scenes to fit it!

what kind of camera did you use to film the low angle, in motion shots of the engine at 0:37?

Great work as always Doc!

Thanks Eric. Those shots were done using the trusty iPhone mounted on the rear pilot. iPhones are pretty versatile for use on board moving rail road equipment.

That does have a nice sound to it. It would be a fun project. Good luck with the build.
