Probably the very best locations to find detailing parts for sure. I have been robbing computers and printers.

JoAnns Fabrics for hoses (piping)… your purveyor may vary.

The craft store, in my case Pat Catan’s, for chain, scale buckets, barrels, shovels, and other small parts, usually from the jewelry department. Also for brushes, paints (including Krylon rattle cans), glue, hobby blades, and other small tools.

Edit again for my phone’s foxtrot uniform spell chequer

Then there is micromark, for tools

Microfasteners, for, ah, micro fasteners

ACE for metal rod and more Krylon paint.

If you’re talking about hardware of almost any type, think McMaster-Carr. On the east coast they do VERY quick delivery at a reasonable price. They have just about anything you need. I’ve bought aluminum angle, rod, springs, brass, acetone, foil tape, rubber tubing, slotted shoulder screws, and lots more from them.

McMaster-Carr is my “go-to” place for parts for “bashing stuff” for BOTH my Fn3 and 1/8th scale RR parts.

I used McMaster-Carr drive in oil cups for MU plugs for my 1/8th scale Baldwin electrics,

The prototype.

The 1/8th scale model.
