Lionel Large Scale 8-5105 Pennsylvania

Hi guys,

I have one of these, and I’m having trouble finding information on it. Basically, I’m getting ready to move out of the country, and I’m thinking of selling it. It’s from the late 80’s/early 90’s, and in excellent condition. I haven’t tested it yet, but it ran fine the last time it was used a few years ago. I also have two Pennsylvania 6000 passenger cars, a log hauling car, and plenty of track to go with it, but I can’t find any info on this model at all!

Any help finding resources to research this old boy would be very helpful.

This is the 0-4-0 steamer? I just picked one of those up on ebay, and posted a question about it here. Did not get too much info.

I found an old lionel catalog online that has an exploded parts diagram for the 8-5105. It looks like it has the same motor they used in their large scale Atlantic 4-4-0, and it looks like the same gearing and power pickup. The Atlantic can be made into a good runner with some work–I have one and really like it a lot. George Schreyer’s page describes what he did.
