Large Scale Central

Lionel / Aristo Craft - curiously wondering

Hi to all my fellow Railroad nuts, Sorry I have to say I drove my parents nuts growing up with all my trains. Anyhow, Does anyone have the Large Scale Lionel Locomotives and Engines that Lionel made. I have 4 Locomotives. 2) 4-4-2 (New York Central) 2) 0-4-0 Tank engines (Rail Scoop) With Aristo Craft gone and Lionel not making Large Scale, USA trains are far to expensive for my budget. Does anyone know who may pick up where the two left off. I found the Lionel engines and Locomotives very well built and run extremely well, I have to make a few changes, I removed and replaced all Plastic Wheel, Kadee Couplers installed.

Aristo Craft. if you follow Ebay, People are crazy buying and selling Aristo Craft engines and heavy weight passengers cars that are far out of range for common folk like myself to buy, I saw a one coach go for 600.00, I’m sure glad I brought a few items last year.

Hi Jim,

I’ve never felt like USAT was significantly more expensive than Aristo, however, it appears that way on eBay. I would try to find deals on USA and AML items from good dealers. At least with USA and AML you have a shot at getting parts still.

Jim,
Scott Polk, who is now Polks generation next will be picking up the Aristocraft train line. He already has FA’s, 0-4-0’s and eggliners on their way. So Aristocraft is not completely dead yet. He also has some passenger cars on their way. He had a list of what is coming in at york. If I can find it i will scan it in and send it to you.

If the track prices are anything to go by, the GeneratioNext stuff might as well be made out of Platinum.

FA’s, 0-4-0’s and eggliners are “on the way”?

I see posts on farcebook from Scott:

April 14: “Great News…Trains are on the way!!”

Polk’s GeneratioNeXt We will send an email out this week as well as have all the items up on the website for pre-order. (for people with calendars, that is a half month ago)

Well, no email and nothing on the web site.

Where is it stated specifically about the FA’s, 0-4-0’s, eggliners?

Not trying to be a naysayer, but not going to binge on kool aid just yet either.

So, any substantiation on the “on their way” would be great. I’ve seen too many re-interpretations of “I’d like to produce locomotives” to “I am producing locomotives” in the aftermath of the demise of Aristo.

Greg

Greg I recieved a email from scott as a dealer with a list of products available from him arriving next week. On the list was the 0-4-0s 4 road names the FA-1s 3 Road names pcc`s 3 road names santa fe streamliner sets prr heavyweight sets nd their extra cars c-16s 2 road names and 4 Eggliner styles.

Keep in mind Scott is the one who told me next Week I usually take that statement with a grain of salt because lots of things can affect a Arrival date

Matt, I look forward to seeing these items on your site. Re: this thread and the other thread where you posted the list.

I do hope both you and Scott can make a go of it.

I’m with you Greg. I am not holding my breath. I want to see some serious engines, like dash nines, and Mikados. not 0-4-0s.

Then I am interested again. Presently I’m just buying on ebay.

Paul

The C16 has my interest, depending on cost of course

Matt, that is great news that some product is available, and I believe you.

I do see that these were slow mover products that did not sell well, the eggliners were 50% off in the last days, and they seriously overestimated the market for the 0-4-0.

So, I would surmise this is clearly not new production, but shipping of product already manufactured.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it is great that some product is available, and I hope fervently that Scott will get enough cash from sales to be able to make NEW stuff, stuff that people really want.

More Mikes, Dash 9s, SD45, etc, bread and butter stuff, common parts, like wheels and trucks and couplers.

Regards, Greg
