WOW i did the Modifications as described by George and Greg, Big Diffence these mighty locomotives are very powerfull and strong. infact i did the very thing Greg mention about the. drive wheels not in being in quarter and let me tell ya. it snap those rods and mounting post on the one mounting with no problem at all. How do i fix this at the point. i have tried apoxy long screw just snap it more i even tried to use some. brass tubing.

if you have snapped the crankpin, there’s not much you can do but try to find one for parts.

if you drilled through the driver and epoxied in a brass tube that might work. once mine was cracked glue would not hold it togeter.

Perhaps someone here on the forum has some spare parts, I do not think you can still buy them from lionel, but it is worth a try, I believe I put the part numbers on my site.

I had some aluminum rod that was threaded inside that was just the right O.D. to match the size of the crankpin. I ground off the orginal crank pin flush with the driver. Then drilled a hole all the way through the driver and secured the new aluminum crankpin with an allen screw and small washer. Then for the other end, i filed a small slot in the crankpin to except the eccentric crank and added another allen screw to hold it on, instead of the coarse thread phillips screw that was orginal. I think i used blue loctite to hold the inner allen screw to make sure it stayed put. Its been working great so far and should be mutch stronger then plastic. Good luck. May be able to find pictures if it helps anyone.
