Is Aristo’s L’il Critter prototypical, or is it just a flight of fancy Aristo executed using it’s RS-3 molds to a produce a clever new product line?
Fancy.
However, anything is possible.
But I don’t think anyone has chopped up an Alco road switcher in the real world.

Okay Brian, photo shopped how? Total fabrication? Chopped picture of RS3? What?

That’s it. Scot took pics of the same spot of empty track and with the RS-3 sitting there and then removed the front end of the RS-3 by placing over the empty spot. Its not hard to do - like when we got po’d at HJ for his toy like geometry comments -

Ted,
You might consider the Aristo Center Cab instead of the 'lil Critter. If you look at the link below, particularly the 48-60T/65T/70-100T pics you will see many Whitcomb locos that have a good similarity in appearance to the Center Cab. If you enjoy altering locos there is a decent choice.
However, if you are like me and let well alone, you will not be disappointed with a Center Cab. I have two and they are easily handled and quickly removed from track in a rain shower. lol. The newer production, I believe, will have the plugs fitted for battery operation. You may even find the current version with a free caboose.
Nicely done.
