When LGB first brought out their “route of the beaver” pink box car I was working in a large hobby/toy store and we received our shipment of LGB from the Manufacturer and almost immediately received notice from them to send the pink boxcars back because of a manufacturing defect, well being as I worked there and was in charge of the LGB I bought one and really couldn’t see anything wrong with it until I opened the door. The interior of the car was white with hot pink over spray all over the white interior and after checking the remaining 4 found all to be the same. Well I still got mine hoping it will be come a collectors item someday. Has anyone else seen these?
I have seen a few up for auction, but the pictures didn’t show the interior.
Another ebay listing for $55 plus shipping… if you want to make your fortune by collecting LGB, it will take a few decades…

probably like collecting NASCAR plates
Yep, they say do it because you love it, not because you think you’ll get rich… hmm my favorite won the cup series this year, yay!

This reminds me of the license issue with the LGB Harley-Davidson tank cars, some of which were “recalled” and painted over with the Santa Fe colors/logo. I bought an original Harley tank car from Watts Train Shop back in the 90’s and another one about a year ago on Ebay. Also bought the Santa Fe tank car on Ebay not long ago. I think I paid close to the same amount for all three cars - they didn’t appreciate in value because of the recall. So I think this over-spray “defect” issue is not really going to affect the value of the cars any.

Thanks Joe very interesting
You’re welcome, Bill. Thanks, Joe.
Of course “Watts Train Shop” is now “Zionsville Train Depot”.
