Does anyone know the scale of this little monster?
It ain’t 1:20.3, 'cause its a tad smaller than the Accucraft version. (Or Accu’s is a tad bigger than it should be.)
And it’s too big for LGB’s so-called “narrow gauge” 1:22.5 rolliing stock.
Sigh…As HJ puts it: "Another “Gummi Gauge.”

If it were RhB I could tell you.
Couldn’t Dave Buffington or Jack Lynch tell you?
I believe there is a proto drawing of the Sumpter Valley engine (that’s where the critter came from) in the March 1972 NMRA Bulletin. I have to check if I have that issue or maybe someone else has it!?!

It surely must be that scale you told me about when I first jointed the INGRS. I think you called it the 10 ft scale. Something about “If it looks ok from 10 feet, its good enough for gummint work.”

Steve, John’s learned to read a ruler since then…
I don’t know what scale the # 50 is supposed to be, but, I can tell you it is by far the smoothest running small loco I have.
I got mine as a box of disassembled parts in a trade with Jim Francis.
I even managed to stuff battery R/C and sound under the hood.

I’m sure he did and it isn’t 10 feet long, either!
Let’s just say that the little locomotive is in 1:22.5+wow.

All LGB is on the Richter scale…
I liked mine so much, I got the ice cream set.
Great pulling little engine. Just as good as the Stainz.
I even drilled out the stack and installed a smoke unit.
One thing I did do to these engines is they tend to stall on switches. I reversed axles so the traction tire was on the short side relative to the slider.
No more stalling on the plastic frogs.
Oops, double post
I also like mine so much, I got anudder one from Darryl Noble. --(Aside-Haven’t heard from Darryl on this site lately. Hope everything is OK)–
I double head them and call it the 50/50 or “half n half” consist.
Nice tip, Dan. I’ll do the same.
