We have had at least two now attempt to start a “smear”, claiming someone said something they never did.

I would expect this to get a lot nastier before it quits.

I am reasonably certain some folks are tearing up Google trying to find something that isn’t there, but lack of facts hasn’t seemed to slow them dopwn before, so why now?

Just be advised.

Rant “on”

WOW! I read that post Dave, I am really amazed. I guess some people just cant handle facts.

I remember him saying “Just wait till next week…”

Well… its next week!, and Intro has been torpedoed, and I’m still waiting for the Calvary to show up and save the day…Hmmmm…still waiting…

I wonder if “they” will still be so rosey when the factory is being auctioned off and all the players are tied up in court for 3 years straightening this mess out. Thats likely 3 years WITHOUT any production if that happens, unless those pesky molds and dies somehow show up in the land of 101 ways to wok your dog, maybe under a new logo…?

Face it, we’re screwed! On all counts…

If Kingsbridge isnt awarded it, this is going to end up in court for 2 to 3 years. It may end up in court even if they do get it. If Kingsbridge is awarded it, the factory still goes poof! and all the hard core germies will have to lump it and get used to a “Made in China” stamp on all their precious toys…

It will be very interested to see if LGBoA shows at the BTS next month… and more importantly, what they show up with.

Let me see someone put a spin on all that…

Rant “off”.

Hi all,

As some of you may know, the originals and the translations of the “Snewz” are not an exclusive to LSC. They are also posted on the RhB Forum and the BTO Forum.

Why do I mention that?

Simple, I keep reasonably close track on who shows up as a guest on the RhB Forum. Yesterday we had a guest who could be traced back directly to “Deutsche Telekom” in Nürnberg. No, not one of their subscribers but the main office in Nürnberg. Must be someone who is interested in the RhB, right? Right!

If for some strange reason the RhB Forum should be hacked - could happen, even though I warned the hosting company - I would not be surprised.
Nor was I surprised when LSC got hacked not long ago. There have been thinly veiled threats on this forum. Yes, I take them seriously! :frowning: :frowning:

Jeez, its like Scientology, diss them nutjobs off publicly and they’ll set your car on fire!
Uh oh, I hope Tom Cruise doesnt come to my house now and jump on my couch, with me on it.

If this circus doesn’t come to an end very shortly, there won’t be an LGBoA to go to the Big Train Show…though G45 may…probably showing the stuff they are hawking for other companies.

This is from the LGBFamily yahoo site Dave posted the link to:

“…Have you ever bought a used car? You went right up and paid the
asking price, Yeah right!
Myself I like to make a fair offer and walk away. How about you?
Sounds like smart business
to me…”

It took me a while to figure this out but then I realized it pretty much summed up my ealier speculation about what has transpired, namely that Intro likely turned around and lowballed their bid at the last minute.

“…Have you ever bought a used car? You went right up and paid the
asking price, Yeah right!..”

Depends, if you give them a used Chevy price for a used Maserati, its called many things, clueless, arrogant, and maybe, stupid!

“…Myself I like to make a fair offer and walk away. How about you?..”

Depends if you know the percieved value of the subject, its not necessarily the true value. Ever buy antiques at an auction? if the subject is desirable, the final gavel price might be very different from the suggested valuation. Same here, if Intro offered what it considered to be the “true” value and walked away without taking into consideration its “percieved” value by the banks, then they miscalculated and deserved to be dropped by the banks.

Thrift is never a good thing when your bidding on family farm…if you really really want it you go dam the torpedoes! full speed ahead and to hell with the final price…guess they just didnt really want it…

“…Sounds like smart business to me…”

No, it really doesnt…:frowning:

Vic- I do believe you are begining to see the problem here.
If the “announced” bid was 7.4M euros, double the alleged 3.7M euros Schoentag got it for, either someone else in the wings has offerred more, or they pulled the high bid at the last bit for a lower bid.

Will we ever know?

Probably not, and it doesn’t much matter.

As long as you realize is is all our fault, right?

I ent through that once, where someone accused me of having a branch of the Federal Government at my beck and call.

Not bloody likely.

The blinders some of these folks are wearing must be freaking huge.

This is like when I find problms with product, report same with necessary fixes.
Some folks, since it does not fit their personal “beliefs”, instantly call it “bashing” and some even resort to modifying posts and sending them to said factory in an attempt to get my ass sued.

I am just waiting to see what modified posting these folks come up with.

It is very difficult to argue against printed data, unless you have contradictory data that has a stronger case.

To simply argue because you don’t like the data is childish, immature, and just plain stupid.

Plus, when it comes out later, and you have made statements based upon belief, not published data, every can see you were a stooge.

I can think of 2, 3 4 or more who did that early on, and have just flat disappeared from forums (at least under that name).

Hi all,

Those who “just need” their fix of LGB News I suggest you check once a day at “http://www.rhb-grischun.ca/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=37”. It is an open part of the RhB Forum and all the LGB News has been sorted into that section.

Other than that it will be the Saturday Digest in condensed form.

Of course it is, Its all our fault...after all, I didnt hawk my car, sell my house or spend my retirement funds to keep EPL solvent! ;)

No ^#$%@ way! If all those “Ventilators” would have put the money where their big yaps are, they could have rescued EPL by buying even more of that “collectible” stuff. But no, they waited 'til the “fire sale” prices took effect and then hogged umpteen “transparent” F units, a gazillion “Lord knows what” and enough track to cover most of Texas. Then they try to give the frugal model railroaders a hard time, just because we only buy what we need, what fits the theme of the railroad and all that other important stuff. The “LGB Ventilators” and the RBB are in dire need of a reality check. Now it is a matter of finding a doctor who manages to remove those outlandishly large blinkers from their noggins. … That could pose a problem!

To all:

Should this site continue day-to-day information on LGB’s saga?
A second question is: Should the site management permit daily input on LGB?
The answer to both questions, which avoids the effect of discrimination towards a singular topic is, of course.

However, those not interested in reading won’t – those interested will read.
Therefore, the audience will dwindle or increase pending on the posting title – and whether or not the posting title remains the topic.

Here’s a possible problem that energizes “have less LGB” focused postings: Unfortunate enthusiastic reader contributions that bridge to topics outside of the posted topic.

Me? I think LGB of America and LGB of Germany is a phenomenal study. I remember when LGB made an effort to determine for retailers the retail pricing of its products – which gave way to don’t advertise any price below mfg. retail. That sequence, and the final outcome, was wonderful discussion fodder for my classes. Yes, I REMOVED the name as I had no interest in injuring a company – only to provide the discussion of the key issues via price controls.

So where are we?

Wendell, As posted in this thread those who would like the info quickly will find it on the RhB Forum under “LGB Saga” in the Modeling section. Yes, the bridging is a real problem. :frowning:  :frowning: As, it appears, are the pestering emails and the pestering phone calls. I would say that those who have a beef and are sending the email and doing the phoning should read what “King Bob” had to say in this thread not long ago! Is it a lack of understanding that message - it was loud and clear! - or is it a matter of not getting “Their Way” - just like the “Ventilator” crowd who found out that all the email writing is for nought when certain parties got around to having resolve. However since Bob advocates a moratorium, a moratorium it will be. I’d hate to be part of the “select group” who doesn’t get the message!!! And a Saturday Digest, as suggested! It will be a delight to condense things to the essential, even after the fact! “The publicist” was of the opinion that the LGB insolvency couldn’t be condensed to 25 words or less, it apparently would take 2500 words. That is quite possible, if one has a problem with being concise and on target. For some reason I can get it to less than ten words: Delinquent loans and less than transparent business practices. One can spin, twist, massage and snowjob in a million different ways. When all is said and done those eight words sum it up! Of course that is strictly my opinion, to put it succinctly!

Wendell –
I bet it did make a great class argument for the classroom. But to your question, yes, I believe the news updates should continue unabated, but perhaps without the vitriol of some of the personal attacks.

It is what it is and all news (the words and phrases) can be interpreted with jaundiced/biased eyes. But like all individual opinions, they are perhaps worth just what they cost.

I like the fact that I can understand some of what is happening with what is truly an icon of the hobby.

Mark,

Yes, it’s the vitriol that does it.

How long would a post stand by its lonesome self - just the copy of the original text and my translation without any comment! - before those who take issue with the News would weigh in and find fault with one point or the other?
Sounds like the gang who sits in front of the TV watching the News and throwing pretzels, peanuts or whatever else is handy at the screen when they can’t stomach “the News”.

Almost like turning on the television when it’s above 20C, and all you can get in May and June is a hockey game or some other fool sports type entertainment.

That’s why I gave up on television…ruddy STUPID type dull entertainment.

But then; I think I’d take the “LGB SAGA” over “As The World Turns”, or that other crap.

It is my opinion that if you put restrictions on the civilized discussion of LGB’s problems and it’s surrounding fiasco then that is censorship.

Censorship sucks…:frowning:

I, for one cannot read German, therefore I appreciate the translations published on this forum, it keeps me in touch with what is really happening with LGB (not the be all,and end all of Large Scale) but extremely interesting reading, just how such a respected company can get in the S*** so deep, in intregueing.
I will miss my daily read, as censorship is rearing its ugly head, all because of a few stirrers, who will not just read the reports and leave it at that.

Danny Sheehan said:

Dear Mr Sheehan, as one of the stirrers to whom you refer, I'd just like to say that this once interesting web-site appears to have been virtually taken over by the whys and wherefores and machinations of a foreign toy company to the extent that about 40% of all new posts carry some reference or another to it, and little else new is discussed or, sometimes, tolerated, by single-minded posters intent on hi-jacking even my begging thread, in order to make their own point of view heard. You will notice that THIS thread has now degenerated into a 'Read the OTHER post for more breaking news on LGB' thread.

In my my first post, I begged that the near-unending flood of information from sundry German rags be compended into one easily-readable, or ignorable lump, on a once-a-week basis, so that those of us with little or no interest in LGB and its strange financial cavortings could ignore it all at once.

Sadly, this has not happened, and my initially short and to the point post has been taken out of context, minced and mangled, misquoted, derided and generally pissed on.

Truth to tell, I am not tired of the LGB saga, I am sick to death of the LGB saga and everything purtaining to it.

I am now going away, you will be pleased to learn, and may return when the final nail has been hammered in.

Until then, those who wish to do so in an amicable fashion can contact me on my e-mail, or on the other site I frequent. To the rest of you, living in a country where the weather tries to either blow you away or drown you, sometimes both at the same time, I have some timely advice.

Put your hands in your pockets, and send some of the money that you would otherwise be spending on LGB and its exploding transparent chicken cars to help the poor folks of Greensburg Kansas, where they not only don’t have toy trains any more, they don’t have a Greensburg any more.

Terry,

Very simple, those who want to read the daily updates know where to get those updates. The “Saturday LGB Digest” will be clearly marked. Do you have any other complaints?

BTW does it rain in Kansas? Well there are a few more places on the continent that are in imminent danger of flooding or what other calamities strike! 140% snow pack that is rapidly melting due to temps that climbed much too quickly!

Wasn’t this how all the crap started over at MLS ??? This is not a Publicly Owned forum. It is a dictatorship. Each website owner has the right what content he or she wants to present. If they so choose certain content is unacceptable at their website that is their management decision. It is NOT censorship.

If you want fully free unrestricted discussion then go to Usenet. It’s a free-for-all, uncensored and for the most part unmoderated. All kinds of crap is welcome there.

/JR steps off soap-box

Bob has the right to run this forum the way he sees fit. But, with no offense towards Terry, there are others that have tried to force Bob’s hand and that has amounted to censorship. I don’t like the individuals picking on each other but I do like the free flow discussions. In fact that’s what makes this forum unique to the rest.

As for usenet, I only know of one group there that’s active and that’s alt.binaries.pictures.rail. Finding anything in usenet is like finding a needle in a haystack…and usually what you find is disgusting.
