Just posting to state that I’m anxiously waiting on the LGB Shays to hit the US. I’ve seen a couple of videos from European modelers and the engine looks great. Can’t wait for the WSLC #7 to show up in January.
I assume the Shay will be 122.5 scale, it would be nice to be in the 120.3 scale. Will the 120.3 crowd buy it , or not.
I really want one, but the price $$$ Yikes, that’s live steam territory. It doesn’t help that tariffs added $1k to the price.
Wow! Is that about 25% worth of tax, that is being collected?
The guys over on Gscalecentral.net have been drooling over it for months, and yes, they say it is 1:20.3/Fn3 scale. See (5 pages of no pictures!)

They did find this video. Skip to 29:00 to see the shay unpainted and painted.

Yes, when it was first announced the msrp was about $3700, that was before the tariffs were announced. If you look at LGB dealers here in the US now its listed at around $4700. That’s all important tariffs. Marklin, LGB and Piko all took a hit here.
Here’s another LGB “high end” loco, advertized a couple years ago at least.

I was impressed with its numerous openable / movable parts and sources for “steam” to emerge.
I’m a bit surprised though that Train Li is still describing it as a “future item”…? Not that I’d buy it…
However, I’d sure like the BD to (he can afford it, with the fortune he’s making on his site). That way I could go visit it and drool for a day.
Cliff that loco was nicknamed a Dreadnought because it reminded people of a battleship. They also did a really cool 0-6-6-0 snowblow a few years ago.
Thats a Spectacular model, it’s the price that’s going to be the stickler for it.
