On our recent cruise to Alaska and the Denali we stopped off at Skagway and I spent a little money. Caved in to LGB’s starter set in WP&Y colors thinking there must be an easy way to make that slider in between the drivers disappear. Has anyone had any experience converting their 2-4-0 to a more aesthetically acceptable power pick up?

Remove them and see if it works as good without them.
You already have 4 brushes on the wheels.
If you carefully remove the motor cover, they will lift right out.
Do not let the wheels disengage from the gears or you will have to quarter it again.
And if you really want the sliders gone and need more pick-up, you can put a set of LGB BB wheelsets on the tender and wire them right into the MU plug.
