LGB Mogul User's Manual

Does anyone out there have a user’s manual for LGB’s mogul locomotive that they can scan or photocopy and send to me? I inherited one a well-used loco that needs some work on its electronics, and a manual would sure help to understand where all those wires go and what they do. If so, come back and we’ll work out the details by e-mail.

The manuals were basic, but you may have some luck with the service diagram, but then they are not the best on routing of things as far as wiring:

Here are some manuals for a newer version, as you can see, not much technical info:

Many thanks, Garrett. We’ll give 'em a try and see what we can do.

You may have some luck having someone posting pix of correct wiring? I unfortunately cannot help there, as my LGB ist nicht Amerikaner… But there are some helpful folks here!

Art,
I recently received a Pennsy mogul that the seller forgot to tell me did not have operating sound. I assume that your model is the older analogue model (C&S most likely #6) as was mine. On the two circuit boards under the tender shell are about 20 trimpots. I started ‘playing’ with the pots individually and noting any change, turning clockwise or anti-clockwise. To my surprise after a few minutes I had sound. I then turned my attention to getting the ‘best possible’ sound (some may disagree as the the quality of the early LGB analogue sound) from the trimpots. It was a matter of trial and error, noting with just minute adjustments the effect on the sound produced.

Run the tender without the shell and have a 'play'. Hopefully, you will get results. Of cause, your problem may be related to the umbilical cord that connects the loco to the tender. These get brittle with age and wiring breaks inside the plastic connector, where it plugs into the tender receptacle. I suggest you start at the connector, removing the outer plastic cover and remaking a new connection on the cord.

LGB “Manuals” do not have any wiring or other parts info.
PM me with the number and I’ll send you the drawings.
