Today, July 5th, 1901, Jasper Creek Railroad accepted delivery of a rebuilt 2-6-0 Mogul from the Deer Creek Maintenance Shop, David T. Funk Foreman, after having been totally rebuilt and repainted with the Jasper Creek road name.
The locomotive arrived in the shop, a basket case, (less the basket) after being purchased from another road at a very reasonable price as it had long not been in service with broken running gear and many external parts cannibalized or misplaced during it’s time in the former owner’s storage yard.
The management at Jasper Creek Railroad expects long and profitable service from our new engine Number 18. Special thanks to D.T. Funk at Deer Creek Maintenance for his hard work and attention to detail restoring this LGB built engine to a better than new condition.
