LGB Mogul question

Would somebody be kind enough to measure height of the diamond stack above rail level on the LGB Mogul for me please. I am building up a tunnel mouth on our club track and want to make sure most engines (if not all) will fit, the diamond stack Mogul looks to be about the tallest in the LGB range.

Wayne,
There are a lot taller rolling stock than the mogul’s stack.
If it is for clubs use, consider the tallest item any club member owns or would own in the future.
An Accucraft caboose’s smoke stack would be one thing you need for clearance.
Or a USA double stack.
I don’t have any tunnels, but I can say I have been limited on some layouts, because the cabooses on my trains would not fit. Or the light on top of Bachmann Climax. etc.

And don’t forget the width of a 1:20.3 Mikado, either.

Just my .00002

Wayne,
Because you asked, the height of a balloon stack on a mogul is roughly 8 1/4" from the railhead.
An LGB drover caboose is almost 9".

It’s been said several times that if you have a vertical clearance of 12 inches, you should be able to run anything without knocking off the smoke stack.

And a width of at least 9", and no tight curves into either end of a tunnel.

The tunnel (actually 2 tunnels) are on a branch line off our mainline and has 4’ radius curves, double stacks and big mainline engines are limited to the main line with 12’ radius curves. Expect smaller? engines only on this line, have checked size of K27 and Shay and now Mogul but hadn’t thought about 1:20.3 cabooses and coaches, mmm, more measuring to do, thanks for the info fella’s.

What I’ve read repeatedly is 8" wide, 10.5" high(20cm wide x 27cm high).

That’ll clear an AMS caboose and the K-27.

With 1/2 inch on either side to spare. I’d like a little more space.
