Santa Vaca! MLS has a very interesting thread about what Marklin intends to do in the US beginning next year. I quickly shifted to this forum because this is where much of this topic has been endlessly correctly and erroneously discussed in the past. Where are the LGB contributors?

That will depend if Marklin is still afloat… Europe is in a recession right now & will be there for quite a while… They are worse off than us… We have not made it yet but it is coming!!

On another topic: did you know that “Fasnacht” started on 11.11. at 11:11?

Yes, Hans, I do. Also, fasnacht is an unleavened bread or doughnut, if you will, that is made during Lent. I’ll go with either usage. There is a fascinating one-week Fasnacht festival in Basel that I’ve always wanted to attend. Much merriment. The origins of this festival go back to the late Middle Ages. It is a very closed festival and only certain citizens with a long heritage are permitted to take part but the rest of the city engages as spectators and the like. I have always thought, if I get to Basel for Fasnacht, that they would have to allow me to participate. Guess it would be up to the city fathers.
