LGB®Märklin now has a website

Hi all,

Had to happen http://www.lgb-bahn.de/

For those looking for a delivery list http://www.lgb-bahn.de/pdf/lgb_liefertermine_gesamtsortiment_2008.pdf

And check the pricelist http://www.lgb-bahn.de/pdf/lgb_preisliste_2008.pdf of course those are MSRP and they are in Euro.

Happy reading.

Wake me up when there’s some content other than an (over-priced) price list.

How does one wake you up?

Nice to see that LGB®Märklin took out a new domain name; it will only be a matter of time 'til they have a fullfledged website. That makes me wonder: will their webmaster be as sloppy as the one EPL had?

That avatar of yours is enough to do it! Sure works for inducing nightmares.

Marvin there is good news, at least you don't get the audio, too.

My friends say: “When Mueller gets that dirty laugh going, watch out. There will be one sucker who’s gonna be sorry!” Nothing like poking a bit of serious fun at the unsuspecting.

Anyway, I won’t wake you, the more rest you get the better your typing will be, that is at least one relief!

Sheee-oot! No wonder all the guys are Gscalemad are having fits about pricing, if these are in Euros, US prices are going straight to “ludicrous speed!”

“Wow… they went to Plaid!” examples: the new DB 220 dismal is 564 Euros, that will be well over $600 maybe closer to $700 US. :open_mouth: The accompanying coachs 36313 for example 230 Euros, $300 US. the former ICE based new trolley 20690 240 Euros, also near $300 US a stupid tank car 45408 is 99 Euros, and a stupid gondola 45883 is 82 euros well over $100 US by the time the exchange rate get done with it, no wonder they’ve dumped the US for the time being, no one would touch’em anyway at those prices. OK maybe its not that terribly higher (they were always ludicrous IMHO) than before but sheesh not a great way to rebuild a customer base :frowning:

Hey, it’s not all European. Those DB ore cars look suspiciously like LGB’s Minnesota ore jimmies. Gotta figure the “DB” roadname is as unprototypical as the “Pennsylvania” roadname on the old versions. Next year, I’m betting on an RhB mogul! Or at least a ZillertahlBahn forney. Don’t you think the Silverton coaches would look great lettered for the Glacier Express??? (Sorry, HJ, you still breathing?)

Later,

K

Nothing really new, just the typical LGB repaints and narrow gauge cars posing as standard gauge items. I am glad the standard gauge German coaches have been revitalised (Dr. Wilfer will be pleased), but will not be holding my breath awaiting a 6/6 electric. But, then it would probably arrive before a K-27, mooted all those years ago.

ps. If one ever wondered what LGB thought of the American market, then, other than the Stainz, the only standard production licenced production was for American prototype. I know that there were some licenced starter sets (and Euro Coke and Pepsi cars) and aftermarket repaints by other suppliers in Europe, but predominantly, the licenced items were of American prototype base. Does this say the Europeans would not have any of that rubbish on their narrow-gauge prototypes (a Coke Zillertalbahn loco any one???). The 4/4 loco colourful paint schemes are based on prototypes and the coloured Kroks were aimed purely at the collector. It seems that Marklin/LGB have as much ‘contempt’ for the American market as well.

Hans-Joerg,

Thanks for the links.

Hey Kevin, with all those ideas, too bad they don’t have an Ideas Box (yet).

What’s the take on the inventory announced by LGB of America (new name is?)as still under its domain:
– Content?
– Distribution via current mailorder houses? From the LGB of A’s San Diego address directly? Their on-line sales arm?

Is Marklin awaiting that distribution rather than compete with it prior to offering Western products?

Any insights from our insightful German translators?

Wendell

Wendell,

Two things to keep in mind

a) LGB®Märklin needs first to get production going to full volume, they’re in the process of doing that as can be seen by the reports on the German fora regarding what has shown up (new production).

b) LGBoA has stock left, question is: What is in stock; if you check around with the different online dealers (I usually check RRS) the number of pages is shrinking and lots of stuff is “Backordered”. Well that won’t be coming from LGBoA’s present stock.

I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop: Märklin announcing who will distribute in NA.
Meanwhile if I “need” LGB stuff, I’ll order out of Europe, but I have enough projects on the go to keep me busy for this and next year.

I’m thankful that I’m not O/C over LGB products. If I was trying to add to an existing set up built entirely on LGB, I would be going crazy right now. (Hopefully I have all the parts I need to someday repair that old 2-4-0 sitting on the shelf). The last thing I picked up new from LGB was a Coca Cola 2-4-0 loco. Hey, it’s fun, and it will run on my tightest layout with four foot curves. So for now I can wait…
