LGB large trolleys (e.g. Philadelphia)

What is the best way to remove the roof vents so the roof can be removed on the Philadelphia trolley (or other versions of this same trolley)?

Welcome Al !

Well… If you’re not worried about putting it back together, I’d suggest explosive devices.

Al, most “snap fits” on LGB items are very tight. Just keep pulling with your fingers while wiggling the vent.

If you are talking about the New Orleans type street car, the vents can be pried off using a thin blade. I believe the outer side of the vent is where you want to pry first. Then simply lift them off. Under each vent is a phillips head screw.

If you have a strong with pair of fingers, the vents will lift straight up. why do you need to do this?

Electronics are buried in the bottom of the trolley, top gives access only to the top lights and seats to add people.

Dan, but people make the thing look like its serving a purpose. Running empty trolleys and passenger cars just costs the railroad money. But filling them with paying passengers, now that is how to run a railroad.
