LGB Engines with factor sound

I have three LGB diesels, 2055 WP, 2056 RG, and a 22560 SF, these are not sound engines from the factory. My question is, if they were factory produced sound engine would the magnetic pickups to activate the sound be in the truck, or mounted on the outside bottom on the truck, or elsewhere on the engine. This is just for information only, I do not want to add factory sound to these engines, just curious what LGB did and how.

Usually in the truck.

True, but I was wanting to know where the sensors are located on the engine, the track magnets activate the sensors on the engine. Now I have found the answer here to my question. https://www.mylargescale.com/threads/lgb-alco-2056-rio-grande-using-factory-sound-board-with-dcc.26364/

To find where, look at the top of the truck for the 3 wire cables (not including the older engine motor/track power cable of green/brown/yellow). If there are 2 then the wheel sensor is chuff and the bell/horn/whistle are the other and are at opposite ends of the truck. If both cables are at the same end of the truck then it is the board with the 3 hall effect sensors. And there is a board with glass reed switches on the bottom of the truck.

Thanks Dan, that’s the answer I was looking for, if the cables are there for the sound I will take off the bottom cover on the motor block as see what is inside.
