Large Scale Central

LGB 995001

so what can anyone tell me about this unit? I just picked one up on Ebay for $28 shipped and it runs although the Skates are nearly worn through.

thanks cale comparing the photo to my loco, mine does not have the rivets painted, nor the handrails…the Lights are also missing from the pilot…portals not painted either…the air pump sits differently, and the numbers on the front of the loco is black on mine?

Cale,
I’ve been too busy arguing economics and politics. Meanwhile you are snatching up all the good deals.
I’m going to have to start watching a little better.

Real: Spremberger Stadtbahn were the original owners of this loco, built around 1940 if memory serves. After the line was lifted, (much of the ROW can be found on the Stillgelegt website, fun only if you have hours to kill) it was later sent by Deutsche Reichsbahn to the HSB where it stayed for a few years, now I “think” it is at a museum in France. LGB model: It appears form this that you may have a modified version of the LGB 2075 version, very basic model, the 2076D version had the proper valve gear, lights, smoke and better details. Skates are standard skates, try a local dealer, Massouth or Watts. There used to be a builder’s photo of this loco online, but I can no longer find it, here it is in DR-HSB service as “portrayed” by the LGB model:

That is the old clam-shell motor block.
Wheels are unattainable at this time, but I have a sh&^ load of gears for it, if you need any.
I think I saw a pack of those old style sliders yesterday down at the local train shop. I did notice a bag of rubber tires, which I will grab for future use.

JB, I;ll let you know…was it SG or NG?

Prolly “meter gauge” which is narrow.

Narrow, the loco number is of help, 99 was DR/DB narrow gauge, and the next digits can be linked to gauge, 2000 = 600mm, 4000 = 750 mm, and 5/6000 = 1000 mm with the occasional exception.

cool, thanks guys! now what to pull?

The Spremberger hauled some small freight, and Lehmann often had the compartment (3050) coaches with it. Not sure what it did with the HSB, but willing to bet shunting duties. Std 300mm LGB freight would be fine.

Shunting was all it could handle on the HSB, not enough coal and water capacity for the mountain sections.
