LGB 50th Anniversary - LGB 28443 RhB Anniversary Model

The year 2018 marks 50 years of LGB, and to celebrate this event, Marklin/LGB has produced the LGB 28443 after one of the Swiss Railroad’s RhB Ge 4/4 II electric locomotives. And the RhB Railroad is celebrating the anniversary by marking one of its locomotives with the same exact LGB logo schema. See the LGB’s Website about the LGB 28443 50th Anniversary model and also watch the interesting video of the RhB Swiss Railroad’s project to install the same exact LGB logo scheme onto one of their locomotives: https://www.lgb.com/lp/18/50years

Since I’m a diehard LGB fan, and after watching the RhB railroads video, I recently decided to buy the LGB 28443. I surveyed over 15 train shops for prices in USA and Europe and found the lowest price at https://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com in Detmold, Germany, for the export (no-VAT tax) price of 780 Euros (approx $912) plus the flat 27.50 Euros shipping to USA. I use the Transferwise.com money transfer service for my overseas buys which has one of the lowest USD to Euro conversion fees around…only $8.06 fee using an ACH debit from my bank checking account funds. Grand total all costs for the locomotive: $948. Lowest USA price I found was $979 plus shipping at http://pizzatrains.com. LGB/Marklin produced this locomotive in January 2018 and they probably won’t be making any more production runs, so there’s only the existing inventory at train shops in USA and Europe, in case anyone wants to buy one.

Last Friday I received the shipment, only six days transit time from Germany to the USA East Coast……very fast compared to the usual three weeks shipment time for my other large scale buys from other German vendors. If you’d like to see a demo of the LGB 28443 operating on my small indoor layout, go to my Website listed below…….pretty neat sounding loco!

ADDENDUM 9-27-2018: ANOTHER FORUM MEMBER DOWNLOADED THE VIDEO FROM MY WEBSITE AND INSERTED IT AT THE END OF THIS THREAD…CHECK IT OUT! AND ALSO VISIT THE LGB.DE WEBSITE ABOUT LGB’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND ESPECIALLY THE SWISS RHB RAILWAY’S VIDEO ABOUT THE PROCESS OF DECORATING ONE OF THEIR ACTUAL GE 4/4 II LOCOMOTIVES WITH THE SAME EXACT LOGO SCHEMA THAT’S ON THE LGB 28443 MODEL…SHOWS THEIR RAILWAY HEADQUARTERS, SHOPS, AND TURNTABLE AREA…A MUST SEE FOR ANY RAILFAN! are you copying the url for the picture and then hitting the picture icon and pasting the url?

Most “drag and drop” methods do not work

Greg - You’re right, I was trying to insert a photo of the LGB 28443 like you did, but wasn’t successful…then I tried a file attachment. Let’s see if the photo insert works this time with a thumbnail photo.

Greg - I must be brain dead…it still isn’t working for me. I click the Insert/edit image of the icons listed above my posting, it brings up the URL box, I put in my PC’s URL address , and click OK …the picture doesn’t correctly insert?

1st, you need to be SURE that the URL (address) is REALLY that of the picture, not a web page with a picture in it…

https://static.maerklin.de/damcontent/3d/78/3d785b874ff632d06992df02c6b1aba21524204016.jpg

the line above is the real link… when you see a picture in a web page, you probably still do not have the right URL…

Once you REALLY have the URL for the picture ONLY, then hit the little picture icon in the editor (a square box with a mountain, and a dot in the upper right representing the sun) and paste the url there.

I use firefox, and when I get to a page with a picture, I right click on the picture and click “view image” … that ALWAYS gets me the correct url for the picture… if the “view image” menu does not appear, then the site is set up so you cannot get the image… this is often done.

The pictures have to be from an online source, not your PC. Your PC isn’t a server that is online all the time for snagging pictures.

Well, I’m giving up trying to insert photos on my postings on this forum…none of the other online forums has such a limited process that photos must come from a Website instead of a user’s PC.

If you have the loco, , why not take a picture of it and post it instead of a picture off the website? A picture on your layout would be cool.

All of us had to conform, Bob did give you space in the Freight Shed (our pic host here) Upload there and copy to your post here.

I only publish what I have stored there as well as images on the net…

When you get older you’ll curse that tiny screen and a touch screen that can’t sense my cold fingers …

Pete - I haven’t been able to figure out how to insert photos on my postings………but I’ll try one more time to put an actual photo of it on this posting.

But in the meantime, go to my Website listed under my signature and you’ll see a short video of the LGB 28443 RhB Railway’s Ge 4/4 II 50th Anniversary electric locomotive actually operating on my small indoor DCC/Digital layout…….that’s better than a photo! You can also see on that page a video of the LGB 23130 Olomana Steam Locomotive operating in which I installed a Soundtraxx Tsunami2 DCC Sound Decoder…….it’s for sale on my Website and on eBay. (Note: The for sell prices for the LGB locomotives that I upgrade with DC/DCC power/sound decoders are cheaper through my Website than on eBay due to the 12% eBay/PayPal seller fees we must pay there.

This one…

Thanks…………nice job posting my Website’s video of the LGB 28443!

ADDENDUM: I’d highly recommend that everyone go onto the LGB Website Germany to view the information about their celebration of the 50th Anniversary of LGB. Not only do they talk about the history of LGB, but there’s a video that the Swiss RhB Railway made about marking one of their RhB Ge locomotives with the same exact markings schema that’s on the LGB 28443 model………very interesting to watch and see that logo-marked locomotive actually pulling a passenger consist on the railway. It also shows their railway repair shops where the do this project, but also shows other restorations they’re working on such as the famous Crocodile locomotive, their shops turntable area, and some other older steamers. This RhB Railway video is MUST SEE for all forum users to watch, if you’re also a rabid railfan of real railroads, locomotives, etc, like I am. The video is located about halfway down their Website page. Enjoy! WEBSITE: https://www.lgb.com/lp/18/50years/
